Alaska 75K MVP Gold or American Platinum ??

Alaska 75K MVP Gold or American Platinum ??

    Hi Guys!!!

So I am spoilt for choice. I am Delta Diamond, and did a status challenge on American for Platinum, that expires May 18. I also applied for status match with Alaska, and was just granted the 75K MVP Gold.

But now, I’m wondering, how can I do all of these, as I don’t fly as frequently as I used to, but most of my flights are far, West Coast to Dubai, West Coast to London, and a lot of transcon LAX – JFK.

I have a paid Cathay Biz class DXB – HKG – LAX from last month that I have not yet credited, but I’m not sure if I credit it now to Alaska if it will be honored at the 75K status. I’m guessing no, since it’s just as of today.

So should I credit my Cathay flight to American or to Alaska? What to do? And I’m going to be killing myself doing all kinds of crazy flights to maintain my Delta Diamond, which what is the point if I’m doing paid Cathay flights. I guess it’s good to feel like I have options, lol.

What do you think, credit to Alaska or American? Thanks so much!

There’s no wrong answer and you cant go wrong with either but it depends on where you’re based, what your normal travel is and what your upcoming travel looks like as well as what you’d like to do with the miles.

Agree with David. It really depends on your future activities with either Alaska or American. There is no point going for one airline if you are not going to utilize them to reap in the benefits.

For me personally. I would go for Alaska as I value Alaska Airlines 75K upgrades quiet a bit. It is also their highest tier of elite status versus Platinum which is after platinum pro and executive platinum.
