Airline refund or travel insurance?

Airline refund or travel insurance?

  1. Anonymous Guest

You’ve done a great job helping us navigate through the pandemic when it comes to airfare refunds and the DOT rules. I’d like to see you do a piece for those of us who also purchased travel
Insurance (ie Allianz). Should I still wait for the airline to cancel my flight and demand a refund through them? What if their definition of “cancel”
Is different from the DOT and involves route/aircraft changes that I don’t want? Should I contact the insurance company instead and should I do it before or after I cancel the flight? Which is the better option, travel insurance cancellation or airline cancellation for a refund? Many thanks! -Nick
