AAdvantage award flights with forced connections

AAdvantage award flights with forced connections

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hello Ben, team:

Hope all is well by you.

In the past year or two, AA introduced a forced connection rule to redeem award flights at a normal mileage level, so it was impossible to get a direct flight MIA – LAX for example, unless you were willing to pay an astronomic amount of extra miles for it for the direct flight ‘privilege’ even if the flight was empty.

Now with new leadership in AA and with COVID that promotes using direct flights, do you know if this forced connection rule will be reverted or dropped ?

After all, I am sure that an award passenger costs more to AA if he/she uses 2 flights versus only one.

    Thank you.
