747-400

747-400

Is there any airline still using the second deck of the 747-400 as first class? If so which routes?

    Thanks

I dont believe so. It was much more common to put F in the nose of the 747 and to split business class into 2 cabins, one behind F and the upper deck. LH had F on the upper deck of their 744s but was was removed a few years ago and replaced with business class.

Delta One (their first? or at least best on that plane) is on the top deck on the 744 – you’ll have to fly from DTW to Asia for a ride. (https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Delta_Airlines/Delta_Airlines_Boeing_747-400_C.php).

Personally I’ve only gone up there once for a Singapore Airlines Business Class flight, I would have traded that for the 777 in a heartbeat, I took that route and seat to just to say I had been up there once in my lifetime. On our layover I tried to re-route to get back to the luxury of the 777 seat they had at the time and no luck, back to the attic for me.

Delta One isn’t really first. It’s just Delta branding of their business class.

Makes sense – i hadn’t the pleasure of that airline’s premium cabin, but if it’s anything like AA/UA then it would pale in comparison to an international premium offering. @JordanG , that was the best I could find on seatguru walking through each airlines 747-400 seatmap. Perhaps consider doing the 350/380/777/787 on a premium (non-US) carrier for the long haul and pick a short 747 leg in region to get the upper-deck bucket-list checkoff 🙂
