Jenni – I’m assuming you’re booked on revenue tickets? It might be expensive depending on what fare class your tickets are in:

    – From discount economy – $350 + 25,000 miles
    – From full-fare economy – 15,000 miles

Discount Economy with published fares booked in H,K,M,L,W,V,G,Q,N,O,S and Military or Government fares booked in Y or B

Full-Fare Economy with published fares booked in Y or B
Those costs are per person, each way.

    Hello Jenni

Do you mean the Cathay Pacific direct flight from LAX to HKG?

Sadly it’s not possible to upgrade with AA miles on Cathay, only awards are possible. AA miles upgrade are only possible on AA, BA and Iberia.

And upgrades at the counter for Cathay flights is sometime possible, but generally very expensive.
