Transfer Miles for Lower Requali Threshold at SQ–Good Deal?

Transfer Miles for Lower Requali Threshold at SQ–Good Deal?

  1. Anonymous Guest

SQ has send out an offer to PPS and KF elites about additional ways to earn status miles. I’m wondering if the offer is worth going for.

I’m KF Gold right now. SQ extended the status for a year. For the next qualification years (which starts in early 2021 for me), I need half the usual status miles. It’s fair on their part but still tough for me. I won’t have any work-related flying until at least May 2021.

But they’ve got another offer. Until October 15, you can transfer points from banks and CC programs (mileage rewards etc.) to SQ and receive some elite miles in addition to the usual redeemable miles.

It’s 4k elite miles per 50k redeemable miles credited.

I would need to transfer at least 100k redeemable miles to bring my requali threshold down to a managable level. Is it worth it?

I’m based in FRA, a *A hub. I’ve got taken care of OW status renewal (through an EF) and I’m highly unlikely to renew my DL Plat. So *A status is like the main concern right now.

If you have the credit card points, it could be worth it? But, that’s a lot of additional miles with Singapore, and miles have a set expiry of 36 months. Granted, that’s a long time, but it’s worth being aware of the timeline moreso now than before because of the uncertainty around the pandemic.

Also, to play devil’s advocate, if you’re not flying much until May 2021 as you said, what benefit does higher status convey?
