Reduce costs at Hilton
Hi,
I have a approximate $5000 stay at Conrad Maldives (only activities, sea plane and food) – any ways to reduce this cost? I tried looking at gift card exchanges but none of them carry Hilton cards.
Thanks!
Hi Lori! Is that ~$5k that you’re anticipating on top of your room rate?
Yes – The room cost is 0. The costs I am going to be incurring are sea plane transfer for 4, water related activities, spa treatments and food.
How about the Barclays Arrival Plus card that Lucky wrote about recently? I think the Conrad charges will code as travel. If you spread it across 2 cards, find another way to spend another $1000, you could redeem a nice chunk of statement credits to cover the charges.
Assuming you get 2 cards and spend the $3k on each card, thats 50k bonus plus 6k via spend ($3k x 2 points per dollar) – $560 in statement credits towards travel per card. And you get 5% of that back for future use.
If you only get one card and put all $5k on there, thats 50k bonus plus 10k from the spend, $600 in statement credits toward travel, and 5% back for future use.
Hi David,
I already have the Arrival+ and I have the citi prestige that I might end up using (since I got an extra 4X retention offer on travel categories), but other than credit cards, is there a way to reduce cost using gift cards probably?
Thanks,
Rachit.
