La Compagnie EWR to Luton Cancelled
FYI, last week I booked a RT flight for my family of four on La Compagnie from Newark to Luton departing Sunday night April 17 and returning on Sunday May 1 for about $1,475/ticket. This afternoon, I received an e-mail informing me that my outbound flight had been cancelled “due to a flight programming adjustment.” The e-mail told me that we had automatically been rebooked on the Sat. night flight at no charge. Luckily, the London hotel we were staying at (the Corinthia) had a promotion where we got the extra night on Sunday for free. Our unusual problem is that we are Sabbath Observant and the Sabbath on Sat. night doesn’t end until 8:20 pm. So, to make sure we can get checked on time for the flight, we are now booked for two nights at the Newark Airport Hilton from Friday to Sat. night for a total of $300. We had to book a second night because check out is at 11 am on Sat. and we need somewhere to stay until the Sabbath ends 9.5 hours later. I e-mailed the airline and asked them to reimburse me for the $300 airport hotel stay. Am keeping my fingers crossed, but I wanted everyone to know that this airline is still cancelling flights, presumably because they have too much excess capacity on the flight.
