Which One World Loyalty Card

Which One World Loyalty Card

1. QRFF1337 New Member

I fly every month to or from Qatar with Qatar Airways as such I took the Qatar privilege loyalty card. 72000 points on it, 22500 Amex points.
I’m saving in the hope of getting a long first class flight from and or too anywhere really.
So what would be the best airline and route with one world?
Also, I’ve been reading a lot of negativity about the Qatar Airways card so is this card my best option or should I be using a BA card or some other One World card when booking with Qatar Airways?

is this newb loyalty card question tough to answer?
I’ve searched all over for an answer but can’t seem to find anything. Clearly I’m invested in the QR loyalty card now so I’ll have to use it, maybe I’ll just upgrade one of my usual flights then switch to another card but I don’t fully understand the parameters for choosing an new loyalty card.
Would dearly like some advice.

When you say loyalty card, do you just mean you signed up for Qatar’s frequent flyer program? Or, did you actually get a Qatar credit card?

Unfortunately, most of us are US-based, so probably not many familiar with the ins-and-outs of Qatar’s program.

Have you searched Qatar on FlyerTalk? https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar-airways-privilege-club-644/

Hey Ricky,
I’m talking of the QR FF Privilege card (silver)with 72000 points.
Also have Qatari credit card which provides Qmiles but I know now that I should be using my Amex gold card (22500pts), which I will do going forward.
(I also have about 19000 Avios with BA)
Have browsed the FlyerTalk page you mentioned but I’ll search again.
I understand now that I need to spend my QR points through the QR website (right?) but moving forward I wonder if I should get an AA card or BA or Alaska card, or maybe even switch to Turkish Airlines (miles and more) even though the journey time with Turkish is longer and has a stop whereas the QR flight is direct to my home airport.

Yes, the QR points you’ll have to spend with QR itself. But do you have access to US credit cards (e.g. US SSN or other Taxpayer ID)? It’s not clear from your post.

Hi Skier, sorry I should have made that clearer, I’m a UK citizen, Qatari resident and I fly economy to Edinburgh and business to Manila, exclusively (up to now) on QR. thats about 50k miles a year

It has become clear to me now that whatever its faults, QR privilege card is the only option for me as my hub is Doha and hardly anyone else flies here and they don’t fly to my destinations.

As I understand it any other one world card will not always give me the same amount of points as I would get from using the carrier card (QR) right?

How to maximize my point spend is still something I’m thinking about.
I have recently identified a need to go to Florida in July so that’s my new goal.

I would imagine you’re correct that you’ll get the most points from your QR credit card for spend on QR. And if that’s the airline you’re flying the most it definitely makes sense to keep your points there as you can build up status.

The QNB (QR) credit card isn’t as rewarding because its one point per 6 Rials whereas AMEX is one per 5 and there’s no bonus points for hitting your annual spend target as there is the Amex gold card.
Just thought to mention as future reference should anyone read this.
