I have a few SQ awards that I’ve waitlisted for. Can I book a Star Alliance partner award with SQ and then change the award if/when the SQ waitlist clears? Or would I have to cancel and rebook?

Hi David, do you mean cancel the wait list to book the partner? Because it includes the same route? I don’t know that exactly but I have found sq to be extremely rigid with my bookings. Friendly but unable to merge legs, add legs, hold legs or anything of that nature. I don’t blame them but I didn’t get the feeling that HUCA would help

Sometimes it does help but it can be a pain. I wanted to change my routing from JFK-SIN-BOM all in suites to JFK-SIN-MLE with the last leg in J. Needed six phone calls and numerous back and forth on pricing and availability. Sorry @David W, hard for me to give a straight answer to this one. Any reason why you wouldn’t want to just cancel the partner award and book with the SQ chart?

I had an SQ award booked for a friends mother but when she had to cancel, SQ took almost 2 weeks to put the miles back into the account and by the time that happened, award space was gone. Now my friend herself wants to travel but only waitlist is available. The miles are already with SQ KF so I wanted to see what different options I had

    Ah, that makes sense.

I just cancelled a flight on Singapore. They said it would take three weeks for the points to post!!! They did come in a few days ago though
