Problems with Aeroflot Skyteam FF seats
I am trying to book a frequent flyer seat from JFK to Bishkek next May. Aeroflot is the best choice, as it flies JFK-Moscow-Bishkek in about 14 hours. However, the SkyTeam Alliance, which Aeroflot belongs to, won’t offer me the direct JFK-Moscow option for the first leg. They want me to fly Air France and stop in Paris first, or Alitalia and stop in Milan. In both cases, they offer a seat from Moscow to Bishek on Aeroflot, but not going TO Moscow. How do I get them to show a JFK-Moscow seat on Aeroflot? I can’t imagine seats are unavailable this far out.
Welcome @PamT – well, you can’t force them to do anything. Award seat inventory, just like the price of cash tickets, is always fluctuating. All we can suggest is to keep monitoring. If your return flight is available, go ahead and lock that in.
Maybe @Tiffany can chime in on what award availability on the JFK-Moscow route typically looks like.

Thanks. I’ve been looking at availability through KLM and Air France because while I’ve been able to join the Aeroflot rewards program, I can’t get them to assign me a password, so I can’t get on it to look at availability through them. I’m assuming there’s a technical glitch and will continue to try .
What mileage currency are you using? You’ll need to use that airline’s website to look for availability. Lots of airlines make awards available to their own members that are not available to partner airlines.

I have Delta, which is SkyTeam, which includes Air France and KLM. The usual advice on these boards is to look at KLM for SkyTeam availability because it is more complete than Delta. Do you have thoughts on that?
No, I wasn’t sure of your experience level with this and just wanted to be sure you understood that if you had Delta miles you’d ultimately have to be sure Delta can see the space and that just because it showed up on the Aeroflot site that didn’t mean it was available to partners. But it sounds like you know what you’re doing!
Search on Delta, by each segment. They’re usually good with those searches. It’s more complex routings that Delta’s award search doesnt do well.
Matthew wrote today about his struggles finding Aeroflot space… seems he had zero luck.

Not the best news… but figured it was worth letting you know that it’s not a unique issue to you!
I looked for a week and saw zero Aeroflot seats on air Frances website
