How best to get JFK-CDG Business Class using Membership Rewards?

How best to get JFK-CDG Business Class using Membership Rewards?

    Hi Lucky,

I’ve seen your posts in other places. Thank you for setting up this site and agreeing to take questions.

I have 500,000+ Membership Rewards points and 65,000 Flying Blue miles. After COVID-19 is over (in our lifetimes, I hope), I’d like to be able to get two (2) roundtrip tickets JFK-CDG. I’m thinking that with what I have so far, this would have to be on AF or DL. Some questions including the general “What would you advise?”

    1. What is the best way of using the MR points? Is it on DL, AF through Flying Blue, AF using a DL award as a code share? I’m really confused.

    2. I already got the mileage bonus for signing up for the B of A Flying Blue credit card and making the required charges. Is there another Flying Blue card I could get for a big signing bonus? Alternately, is there a DL card with a big bonus?

    Thanks again!

The best value will likely be to transfer Amex points to Flying Blue – especially since you already have 65k Flying Blue points. You can use the points on either Delta or Air France if you want to fly non stop, and both options will show when available on the Air France / Flying Blue site.

Flying Blue prices awards dynamically, so the number of points required depends on dates and many other factors, I believe the cheapest you will find is 57,500 points one way in business. You may have to play around with the dates but these are generally not too hard to find if you book in advance.

That would be 230,000 miles total which is not bad compared to American which does not “partner” with FB.

What is the most expensive you have seen for this kind of ticket (JFK-CDG roundtrip in business)?

Because it’s dynamic pricing, sadly the sky is the limit! I’ve seen over 200,000 points one way so yeah. But adjusting dates should solve that.
