Best reward airlines LAX to Europe summer 2017
Have miles/points spread across a handful of programs (SPG, AMEX-MR (most), Diners, AA, Avios, etc) and want to book travel for next summer from LAX to a European gateway city. Given that you hate BA, Lucky, but I guess from reading your posts, must make LA a home base, what airline(s) do you like and/or recommend for flying TATL? Also, I realize LAX happens to be one of the most difficult to find award space on TATL flights. Historically, I have used a boatload of Avios to fly J and F on BA metal, but like everyone else hate the surcharges – but have paid them anyway because I think highly of their soft product & seats. I’m 6-2 and a side sleeper so fully-flat with legroom sufficient to turn over (in size 12 feet) is pretty important.
Welcome @Ari,
I would recommend Delta as they have a great sale and are partners of Amex. Or Virgin Atlantic, they are also partners of Amex and have a great product. Finally, Air France they are also an Amex partner and have a solid product.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, @tconway02. I guess I should have said that I flew Delta earlier this summer and found the business class seats to be pretty bad. The tiny cubbyhole that you’re supposed to put your feet into barely fit my feet. I’d love to try Virgin, but availability seems to be very limited from LAX, but I can try again. Thanks for the suggestions!
Have you considered buying a BA ticket and then upgrading with Avios? That might be a better use for long haul flights on BA metal.
Aside from that I’d say AF new J, LH F, TK J are also great choices. AA’s 77W is also a decent choice as well. If you dont mind a further connection, EY and QR are also pretty good though they dont fly their best hard products to LAX.
Not sure if you have already but if not, also consider a connection. Direct flights are great but a connecting elsewhere might open up a lot of options.
AA on 77W in J is hard to beat purely on hard product.
