Avios redemption pricing

Avios redemption pricing

    Lucky,

I’m sure this has been asked and addressed before, but through searching I couldn’t find an answer for my situation.

I am looking to book roundtrip PBI to TLH and the redemption prices as 35k avios. There’s a stop in CLT and I know that if I were to book each segment individually it would total 4500 avios each for a total of 18k. I know it’s because I’m supposedly flying two separate airlines although of course those airlines are now one (US Air and AA).

Is there a way to get the get the agent to understand it’s the same airline and therefore have them price it as 18k avios? or will I just have to book a roundtrip PBI to CLT and CLT to TLH and hope I don’t encounter any delays?

Again I’m sure this has been addressed so I understand if this gets ignored, but I would greatly appreciate any insight here. Thank you!

Christof, I’d call back to see if you can get a different answer. While AA & US don’t have a single operating certificate yet, when you go to oneworld.com to look at member airlines, there’s a list of airline affiliates and for AA those affiliates are American Eagle, US Airways and US Airways Express. I can’t imagine they’d try to price American Eagle as a separate airline, so they shouldn’t price US as one either.

Maybe someone else has experience with this?

You can also just book the segments separately. It’s annoying if you need to check bags, but is a theoretical option.
