AA Award Questions

AA Award Questions

    Two quick questions

    1. When you purchase AA miles, how long until they are credited in your account.

    2. What is the cancellation policy/fees on AA Award tickets, if possible to even cancel after booking (after the 24 hours)

    Thank you all!

Miles should post in just a few days.

According to this post from TPG, it’s $125 to cancel the first award and an additional $25 per ticket for others on the same reservation. Those fees are waived if you’re an Executive Platinum.

Sean, also keep in mind AA does things a little differently than most other airlines. You can put an award ticket on hold for up to five days but once you ticket there is no 24 hour grace period. Without status, you will have to pay the redeposit fees that @MidSouth Skier mentions ($150 for the first ticket and $25 for subsequent tickets) or change fees of $150 per ticket to make changes that involve a change of origin or destination.
