AA award miles redeposit

AA award miles redeposit

  1. Overland New Member

    Hi Tiffany,

I just cancelled AA award flight (on AA metal). Do you know how long it usually takes to get the miles redeposit and the refund of tax and fees?

    Thanks.

In my experience, miles are redeposited instantly. Taxes and fees refund can take a week or more to post to your credit card.

If you dont have status with American, there is a $150 fee to cancel and I’m not sure if you are asked to pay that if canceling the ticket online. You’d need to take care of the cancellation fee before miles, taxes and fees are refunded.

Thanks for your quick reply. Luckily, no cancellation fee for me (EXP). I still don’t see the miles redeposited, so I will have to call EXP desk tomorrow.

@Overland — Yeah, definitely check. I had some miles I’d asked to be redeposited in December that never processed, so sometimes the system can get gummed up.
