In early 2025, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) announced plans to introduce free Starlink Wi-Fi. Initially, the airline was slow to start installation, as the process really only started as of late March 2026. Fortunately the installation pace has been excellent, and the airline has now reached a major milestone — all Airbus A320neos now have Starlink, covering a majority of the carrier’s fleet.

Scandinavian Airlines installing free Starlink Wi-Fi
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is partnering with SpaceX to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi throughout its fleet. Best of all, SAS is offering Starlink Wi-Fi for free for all members of its EuroBonus loyalty program (which is free to sign-up for), and members can connect with multiple devices.
Starlink is known for its high-speed, low-latency broadband internet, and the service is offered gate to gate. Starlink Wi-Fi allows for live streaming, productivity similar to on the ground (with high upload and download speeds), gaming, e-commerce, and more.
Starlink is becoming increasingly popular with airlines, and we’ve seen dozens of carriers sign up for the service. As a passenger, having Starlink sure makes a big difference.
Here’s how SAS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Verhagen, describes the airline rolling out Starlink:

With this launch, we are taking a major step toward offering our customers a more flexible, productive and enjoyable time on board. Whether they want to work, create, play or stay in touch, this solution brings the onboard experience closer to how people live today”
Scandinavian Airlines’ Starlink Wi-Fi rollout progress
SAS has now confirmed that it has installed Starlink Wi-Fi on all of its Airbus A320neo aircraft, with that installation having taken place over the course of a little over five months.
While installing Starlink on one aircraft type might not sound that impressive, keep in mind that the A320neo makes up a majority of the carrier’s fleet. Of SAS’ 72 aircraft, 46 are Airbus A320neos. The remainder of the fleet includes four A319s, five A320s, three A321LRS, eight A330s, and six A350s.
So if you do take a short haul “mainline” flight on SAS, particularly within Europe, odds are very good that you’ll have Starlink.
What about remaining aircraft? SAS explains that it’s moving ahead with the next phase of its Starlink rollout, with “installation preparations progressing for the remaining aircraft types and further installations planned before the end of the year.”
So it doesn’t sound like the project will wrap up before the end of the year, but instead, that it’ll continue. For the time being, expect you’ll have Starlink on A320neos, but don’t expect it on any other aircraft.
Bottom line
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is making great progress with the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi, which is free for EuroBonus members. This is progressively being rolled out — at this point all Airbus A320neo aircraft have the service, which makes up a majority of the carrier’s fleet, and a vast majority of the short haul network. We can expect more planes to get the service before the end of the year.
It’s awesome to see that free high speed Wi-Fi is increasingly becoming an industry standard, and I look forward to using this service.

I'm surprised you are placing an article about SASsynavian implementing Elon's toy, but not the current war within the organization, after SAS just fired one of their most senior pilots, mr Mattias Thiel, who, more importantly, happened to be the leader of the Swedish pilot union for SAS. It's causing major tensions within the organization and may lead to further unrest and strikes. The official complaint, as I understood it: he apparently didn't do his union work in the way and within the deadlines SAS wanted. The union strongly disagrees here, and is apparently preparing a case. It really seems like they went full Scandinavian and made up a (rather ridiculous) reason to just get rid of someone they simply didn't like. Because it's otherwise nearly impossible to fire someone in Scandinavia, especially after having been employed somewhere for 28 years.
Anyway, their current wifi isn't working well and I'm not sure if I want to share any of my personal data with something that Musk is involved in. As SAS hardly has any long haul flights left, this is yet another reason to just fly Ryanair and easyJet on short European flights...
