Fast growing luxury hotel group Rosewood is doing an impressive job expanding its presence in major European cities. The company has just opened its newest property, in Amsterdam, and it’ll almost certainly be the city’s best address.
In this post:
Basics of the new Rosewood Amsterdam
The Rosewood Amsterdam has opened as of May 1, 2025. This is the brand’s first property in the Netherlands, and it complements the existing European portfolio, with properties in London, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Salzburg, Tuscany, and Vienna.
The 134-key Rosewood Amsterdam is located along the Prinsengracht, in the city’s historic canal district. It’s located in the former Palace of Justice, which has an incredible amount of history, having first been built in 1665. It served as the Palace of Justice for nearly 200 years, and has undergone quite the transformation.

The Rosewood Amsterdam features three distinct food and beverage concepts, including Eeuwen (the all-day dining restaurant, serving “hyper-seasonal” dishes), Advocatuur (the signature bar), and The Court (the lobby lounge). The hotel also features the Asaya Spa, with a 12-meter indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, and fitness center.
Entry level accommodations at the Rosewood Amsterdam start at 35 square meters (377 square feet), and suites start at 53 square meters (570 square feet). Many accommodations also have canal views.

If this hotel is as good as it sounds, it’ll likely become the city’s top address. Up until now, the the Waldorf Astoria has been considered by most to be the city’s top property. It’s always nice when a points hotel is also the best in a city, so that’s a treat.
The Conservatorium Hotel is probably in the same league, and that property is expected to be converted into a Mandarin Oriental. Then there are several properties that are also very good, but not quite to the same level, like the Pulitzer Amsterdam.
Rosewood Amsterdam rates & how to book
What are rates like at the Rosewood Amsterdam? Luxury hotel pricing has of course increased considerably in recent years, and that’s especially true for luxury properties in major European cities.
The hotel currently starts at a little over €700 per night, though pricing does vary. That’s roughly what you’d expect. When it comes to looking up rates, I appreciate that Rosewood’s website has a rate calendar, allowing you to easily compare costs for months at a time.

As an opening offer, the hotel has a “More Rosewood” promotion, whereby you can get a fourth night free. This offer is currently available through March 31, 2026, so can help lower the average nightly rate.
You’re best off booking Rosewood properties through a Rosewood Elite travel advisor, as that’s typically going to be the best deal, as it stacks with whatever promotions are being offered directly online. This won’t cost you anything extra, and a Rosewood Elite agent will be able to add extra perks for your stay. What value can a Rosewood Elite travel advisor add?
- Daily breakfast for up to two people per bedroom
- Complimentary one-category room upgrade upon arrival (based on availability)
- A welcome amenity and note
- Additional property specific elite enhanced amenities, which vary by property; these may include a $100 credit per stay
A couple of further things to note:
- Rosewood Elite perks can be combined with whatever promotion Rosewood is offering on its website directly, including the opening offer
- Booking through Rosewood Elite is better than booking through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, because upgrades are prioritized through Rosewood’s own proprietary program
Bottom line
The Rosewood Amsterdam has opened as of May 2025, marking the brand’s first property in the Netherlands. Amsterdam has so much history, so it’s pretty awesome how this hotel is located in the former Palace of Justice. This will certainly give the Waldorf Astoria a run for its money (though that continues to be an excellent property for those looking to redeem points).
What do you make of the Rosewood Amsterdam?
Really excited to see it finally opening. Its long overdue/needed for Amsterdam. I think it will be impossible to pick the "best" since the WA is a truly special property - and I say that as someone who is not a big fan of the brand. All others, including Conservatorium, are certainly a tier below but are very good and have their loyal guests.
Looks like a great option for Amsterdam. I enjoy some of the canal house amalgamations that have been combined to create hotels but the room layouts can be wonky as a result so the building structure may help with more standard layouts as well (though all retrofits still have drawbacks).
The pricing seems quite reasonable for a luxury hotel in a city nowadays. I can't justify $1500+ pricing for city hotels usually but the $600-900...

The pricing seems quite reasonable for a luxury hotel in a city nowadays. I can't justify $1500+ pricing for city hotels usually but the $600-900 range is doable. Obviously that's a personal evaluation.
