Israeli national carrier EL AL has announced plans to improve its passenger experience, in what it’s calling “the future of the flight experience.” This includes plans to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi, along with several other premium changes.
EL AL will introduce Starlink Wi-Fi as of 2027
Beginning in 2027, EL AL will introduce Starlink Wi-Fi throughout its fleet. The service is expected to be complimentary for passengers. This is of course an absolutely massive boost to the passenger experience, given the incredible speeds offered by Starlink, whether you’re looking for productivity or to be entertained.
The airline hasn’t yet announced how long this installation process will take. Starlink can in theory be installed really quickly, once particular aircraft are certified to have it. EL AL’s fleet consists of just under 50 planes, including Boeing 787s, 777s, and 737s.
In theory the installation on 50 planes could happen over the course of several weeks, though that’s not to say it’ll actually play out that fast. For that matter, the airline hasn’t committed to when in 2027 it’ll be installed. It could very well start in late 2027… we’ll see!
EL AL introducing new amenities, dining, and more
Starlink Wi-Fi is only part of what we’re seeing coming to EL AL, as the airline will also introduce enhancements “designed to deliver a more personalized, comfortable and advanced travel experience, with a focus on passengers’ needs and preferences throughout their journey.”
The new features will be introduced gradually across EL AL Aircraft beginning in November 2026, and will be available based on the flight destination. So, what can we expect?
- EL AL will collaborate with Israeli textile brand TAKEANAP on new pillows and blankets, which will be introduced across cabins, including new memory foam pillows and mattress pads in business class
- EL AL business class passengers on long haul flights will also get pajamas, slippers, and a soothing fragrance
- EL AL will partner with Jo Malone London, with business class passengers getting amenity kits with products from the brand; the kits will be available in approximately 10 colors, and will feature socks, an eye mask, and personal care essentials, accompanied by a velvet pouch containing the brand’s fragrance and body care products
- EL AL will introduce a new generation of inflight entertainment systems, with more personalization; this allows passengers to receive content recommendations based on their viewing preferences, and resume watching content where they left off on a previous flight
- EL AL will introduce a new culinary experience led by Chef Assaf Granit, with business class passengers getting new menus and tableware, with an emphasis on healthy, protein-rich meals, complemented by a dessert cart
- EL AL will introduce a new “Travel Mode” for its app, beginning 48 hours before departure, bringing together essential information passengers may need before their flight

Here’s how Nadav Hanin, EL AL’s VP of Marketing & Digital, describes these changes:
“Two fundamental principles guide us at EL AL: uncompromising safety and security, alongside an ongoing commitment to enhancing the travel experience and tailoring it to our customers’ needs. As Israel’s leading airline, we continue to invest in our aircraft, route network, product and service to provide our passengers with the best possible experience throughout their journey. The expanded premium offering we are introducing today is designed to create additional value for our customers, strengthen their loyalty and maintain EL AL’s standards over time. We believe in our product and work around the clock to continuously enhance the experience, giving passengers more reasons to choose EL AL, flight after flight.”
Bottom line
EL AL has announced plans to invest in its passenger experience. This includes rolling out Starlink Wi-Fi across the fleet, which is probably the biggest announcement. On top of that, we’re going to see new pillows, blankets, amenities, and dining, across cabins. These are all very nice improvements, so I’m sure they’ll be appreciated by EL AL passengers.
What do you make of EL AL’s passenger experience changes?
The 'dessert cart' will cancel out the 'healthy , protein-rich' meals . The 'culinary experience' would be better served by a stiff drink and an attractive girl .
What about beardos and girl food?
Will Elon make sure the Starlink receivers visit a mohel before installation?
El Al better be sure that they never piss off Elmo Skum, because if they do, or he has a bad drug trip / drug reaction / drug combination / bad mood, their internet will be cut off to allow Russian humanitarians to do whatever they want.
