The network of Chase Sapphire Lounges is continuing to grow. Currently, there are Chase Sapphire Lounges in Boston (BOS), Hong Kong (HKG)New York (JFK)New York (LGA), Phoenix (PHX), and Washington (IAD). The opening timeline for the next lounge in the network has just been announced, and it should be an exciting one.

Basics of the Chase Sapphire Lounge San Diego

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at San Diego International Airport (SAN) will be opening on Friday, December 6, 2024, and we’ve now learned details about what we can expect. It will be located in Terminal 2 West, and will be open daily from 5AM until 10PM.

This location will be roughly 10,000 square feet, and will feature a la carte dining with a menu curated by Oscars Mexican Seafood, and coffee from California’s Groundwork Coffee. The lounge will also have a curated wine list from Parcelle.

The lounge will have some other cool amenities, including a wellness area with bookable private rest pods, on-demand digital meditation from Devi Brown, and facial treatments from Face Haus.

This lounge sounds incredible, and should by far be the best at the airport. This will also be the first lounge by a credit card company in San Diego, as there isn’t an Amex Centurion Lounge or Capital One Lounge.

Chase Sapphire Lounge entry requirements

As a reminder, here are the entry requirements for all Chase Sapphire Lounges in the United States:

  • Those with a Priority Pass membership through the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card (review) can access the lounge an unlimited number of times, with up to two complimentary guests; this also applies to those with the Ritz-Carlton Credit Card, which is no longer open to new applicants
  • Those with a Priority Pass membership issued through any other means can access any Chase Sapphire Lounge in the United States once per calendar year at no additional cost (that’s one visit across all lounges, not per lounge), and guests aren’t complimentary; subsequent visits, as well as guests, will be charged an entry fee of $75
  • If you don’t have a Priority Pass membership, you can outright buy access to the lounge for $100 per person per visit, subject to availability
  • Chase Sapphire Lounges are only accessible within three hours of departure, unless you’re connecting, in which case you can access it earlier

Bottom line

The Chase Sapphire Lounge San Diego is expected to open on December 6, 2024. The lounge will be 10,000 square feet, and in addition to the standard Chase Sapphire Lounge amenities, you can expect some wellness amenities, including facials.

It’s especially cool to see lounges like this coming to airports that aren’t otherwise known for world class lounges, so this should be a treat for cardmembers.

What do you make of the upcoming Chase Sapphire Lounge San Diego?

Perfect timing, I just booked a trip to SAN. Chase and C1 really put the Amex lounges to shame.

  2. Jimmy’s Travel Report Diamond

Man, can’t come fast enough. SAN needs a better lounge.

  3. JPP New Member

These lounges may, on average, be a bit smaller, but its impressive how quickly Chase is launching them compared to C1. BOS, JFK, and LGA are large, with HKG being a decent size, Phoenix, and San Diego. Its impressive.

@ JPP -- Agreed, the pace at which the network is growing is impressive. The ability to take over two Etihad Lounges also really helped in terms of beefing up the network quickly.

  4. Redacted Guest

Nice for the locals but LAX would have been a better initial West Coast location to target all connecting traffic.

@ Redacted -- Fortunately that's coming soon as well, but construction for these projects always takes a really long time. Securing lounge space at airports can be tough, which is why the order of openings is driven more by space availability than prioritizing which markets are most important.
