Capital One Lounge New York JFK: Epic 24/7 “Flagship” Location Opens

30

Capital One’s network of airport lounges has just expanded, with the latest lounge location opening today. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill lounge — quite to the contrary, Capital One is marketing this as its new “flagship” lounge, and for good reason.

This complements the existing Capital One Lounge Dallas (DFW), Capital One Lounge Denver (DEN), Capital One Lounge Las Vegas (LAS)Capital One Lounge Washington Dulles (IAD), plus the Capital One Landing concept, with the first location being at Washington National (DCA). Read about access requirements here.

Basics of the Capital One Lounge New York JFK

Today (Thursday, June 19, 2025), the Capital One Lounge New York Kennedy (JFK) is opening. The lounge will eventually be open 24/7, though initially has more limited hours, during a soft opening period:

  • From June 19 through July 2, 2025, the lounge is open daily from 9AM until 9PM
  • From July 3 through July 16, 2025, the lounge is open daily from 6AM until 11PM
  • As of July 17, 2025, the lounge is open 24/7 (note that during slow periods, only parts of the lounge will be opening, reflecting demand)

The new lounge is located in JFK Terminal 4. Specifically, it’s located on the lower level of the retail hall of the terminal, just after passing through security and going down the escalator. The roughly 13,500 square foot lounge is described as the card issuer’s “flagship” lounge. Not only is it the largest lounge to date, but it also has the most amenities.

The lounge is described as “a bold tribute to NYC, leveraging design, destination-inspired food and beverage offerings, and immersive local partnerships to bring the spirit and sophistication of the city to life.”

So, what can we expect from this new lounge? The lounge’s design is marketed as being New York centric, with design elements like a Central Park-inspired dining area, a Manhattan-style bar, and over 40 original works by New York-based artists displayed throughout.

The lounge also boasts sweeping tarmac views, with additional details like a hanging glass sculpture by Brooklyn-based Shakuff Custom Lighting, serving as a central focal point for the lounge.

The lounge has signature Capital One Lounge amenities, like a grab and go food and drink selection, an in-lounge menu with options served as small plates, fully stocked shower suites, power outlets at every seat, high speed Wi-Fi, and more.

There are also lots of things that are unique to this lounge. For example, the lounge features locally sourced bites from a full-service bodega-style espresso bar with hand-rolled bagels from Ess-a-Bagel, espresso from Bean & Bean Coffee Roasters, and La Colombe cold brew.

Grab & go offerings include egg sandwiches, wraps, salads, and pastries, while a rotating small plates bar features dishes like wild arugula panzanella and Berkshire pork shank with pea risotto.

The lounge also features an exclusive cheesemonger experience. Capital One has partnered with Manhattan-based Murray’s Cheese to deliver an interactive experience, where guests can enjoy curated cheese and charcuterie boards served on handmade ceramics by Franca Ceramics. Tastings are available daily, on a first come, first served basis.

The lounge serves NYC themed cocktails in partnership with Unfiltered Hospitality. The bar features craft cocktails, a selection of local beers and wine, non-alcoholic beverage options, and more. Highlights include a signature cocktail from Death & Co., rotating beers like the “Skyscraper IPA,” and the “Perfect Airport Beer.”

The lounge features signature daily rituals, available via roaming trolley carts. This includes things like Italian-style shaken iced coffee in the morning, and an afternoon tea service. Since the lounge will eventually be open 24/7, there’s also a “midnight snack” ritual, serving indulgent bites around 12:30AM.

JFK Terminal 4 is becoming a credit card lounge haven

As most OMAAT readers probably know, several card issuers are developing lounge networks. In addition to Capital One Lounges, you also have Amex Centurion Lounges and Chase Sapphire Lounges. What’s pretty noteworthy is that JFK is the first airport in the world to have all three lounge networks present.

Not only that, but all three card issuers have lounges in the same terminal. The Amex Centurion Lounge JFK was the first to open, and then we saw the opening of the Chase Sapphire Lounge JFK (which is the former Etihad Lounge).

Now, it’s not too surprising to see Terminal 4 getting the most lounges, since it’s the largest terminal at the airport, and it’s also there for the long run (as some other terminal are being redeveloped).

The continued growth of lounge networks at JFK Terminal 4 is great news. This is a terminal where Delta is the largest carrier, and historically Delta has had major lounge crowding issues. Fortunately that has also recently improved, thanks to the Delta One Lounge JFK, which is exceptional.

I just wish we saw a bit more variety in terms of which terminals got lounges, but I understand why things are playing out the way they are.

One thing I find noteworthy about Capital One’s lounge offering is that it’s going to be open 24/7, as we haven’t yet seen that from a US credit card lounge. I’m a bit surprised to see that, since JFK has very limited overnight flights, including from Terminal 4. Best I can tell, there are a few early morning Avianca flights (2-4AM), and that’s about it. I suppose Capital One has decided that the incremental cost of keeping the lounge open overnight is very low.

Bottom line

The Capital One Lounge network is expanding, with the opening of a lounge in New York JFK Terminal 4. The 13,500 square foot lounge features apron views, grab and go food and drinks, a coffee bar, a cheese experience, and much more. Capital One Lounges are phenomenal, so I can’t wait to check out this one, as this one sounds especially awesome. We sure are becoming spoiled for choice in JFK Terminal 4…

What do you make of the Capital One Lounge JFK?

    In the lounge now.

NICE! And it’s kept cool, which is welcome after the sauna that is JFK.

THERE WAS NO LINE! It’s also not “showy” from the outside like the Amex and Chase lounges are, signage wise. At the bar where I sat, they…need more bartenders. The lounge is located directly across from The Apothecary, and between Hugo Boss and Corsa, on the south side of the terminal, for those who find landmarks helpful.

One thing to note: if you’re flying out on Delta, the lounge is positioned perfectly; for VS and EY and SQ flights, not so much.

All in all, a very nice addition to T4.

The menu looks better than a lot of my local (Maryland) restaurant scene...

I really wish this had opened in T8. There's no lounge option for domestic flyers, unless you have a foreign OW carrier status. We need a credit card lounge ASAP.

  4. Watson Diamond

I wonder what the Rare Bottle Club cost and selection is.

Also @Ben, I was thinking, it would be interesting for you to do an end to end airport review on which airport has the most premium departure/arrival/connecting experiences.

For example, I think the new Delta One check-ins at LAX/JFK are quite underrated with how seamless it is at taking you from check-in to the D1 lounges.

Or something like the Virgin Upper Class Wing in LHR. Flagship First check-in at JFK, JAL's First Class entrance at HND, etc.

  6. Phil Guest

Out of the 3 credit card lounges, and the Delta One lounge, which one would you say is the best?

  7. Brian W Guest

The lounge sounds great if you are flying Delta out of T4. Not much good if you are flying AA/One World or JetBlue out of T8 or T5

  8. BradStPete Diamond

What types of Capitol One cards allow access to the lounges ?

  9. TravelinWilly Diamond

Hooray! coincidentally, I'll be at JFK T4 this Thursday. Here's hoping that the new lounge doesn't have lines stretching 20 people-deep like the Amex and Chase lounges have. It would be nice to use this lounge instead of the (dilapidating) VS lounge, that's for sure.

Loved the Landing in DC and will be in JFk next month but T8. How much time would you allow to get from t8 (after checking bags) to t4 , pass through security, enjoy an hour in the lounge, and get back to T8 for a 3:30 pm flight on a Saturday (with clear and pre-check) .

If I leave T8 at noon, is that enough?

Alternative is AA Greenwich lounge . Trying to decide if it’s worth it, but will be near Jfk the night before.

". How much time would you allow to get from t8 (after checking bags) to t4 , pass through security, enjoy an hour in the lounge, and get back to T8"

      One week.

What do you think is the business justification for operating the lounge 24/7? This isn't DXB with round-the-clock flights.

    1. tipsyinmadras Diamond

JFK is pretty-darned-close to 24H operation - flights to East Asia 1-2am, Latin America and the Caribbean after that

To differentiate themselves from the other lounges/cards in T4, and thus get more VentureX sign-ups. I could see frequent travelers who have experienced delays late into the night/overnight being very interested in this lounge/VentureX

  12. Brent Guest

One thing to note: this lounge is operated by Prime class, not Plaza Premium. Is this a permanent shift for Cap One, or just an opportunity?

  13. Nathan Guest

Hey lucky - looks like you hyperlinked the wrong article - "Chase Sapphire Lounges" within 'credit card lounge haven' paragraph takes you to Amex article.

  14. Simon Guest

Will this be the first (and only) lounge in the US to be open 24/7?

  15. Mike O. Guest

It'd be nice if they can renovate landside areas as the paint is literally peeling, broken tiles, etc.

Does T4 security allow me entry if my boarding pass is for another terminal? I've read different terminals have different policies. I can't keep track.

    1. Brad_Karp New Member

When you hand your ID to TSA at the first podium, all they check is that you have a same-day flight out of that airport. Terminal is immaterial. TSA policy is to let you into any terminal. Potentially the Officer will say you’re in the wrong terminal but if you reply that you understand and that you’re there to visit the lounge or whatever, they’ll let you through.

    2. Richard Guest

I have a six-hour layover coming up following an international flight. What are your thoughts on hitting the Greenwich Lounge in T8, followed by the Capital One Lounge in T4, then actually flying from T5? Will going through security 3x within several hours raise any eyebrows with TSA?

  17. AD123 Member

What are the criteria for entry?

  18. Samson Guest

I’m flying an international flight into T4 in a few weeks and have a long layover before departing from T8.

I wonder how early AA will let me recheck my bag for my connecting flight so I can get airside to visit this lounge in T4. Anyone know?

  19. yoloswag420 Guest

This obviously looks nice, but I guess I'm wondering what's the reason for T4? That terminal is already saturated with credit card lounges between the SkyClubs, Centurion, Sapphire, and Clubhouse.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to go into a terminal w/ less competition like the AA terminal at T8 or another airport altogether?

Even as a credit card fanatic myself, I can't stand to open multiple card with hundreds of dollars in fees. A major West Coast airport would've made a lot of sense given there's way less competition in terms of CC lounges.

@ yoloswag420 -- I think it comes down to a couple of factors. First, credit card issuers go to airports where they can actually identify opportunities to open lounges, given how tough it is to come by lounge space. Clearly T4 had some space. Second, I think the fact that competitors have lounges there is all the more reason for Capital One to open a lounge there to compete, in order to not lose market...

You do know Murray's Cheese is Kroger? They bought it about 8 years ago. They still have good sourcing but if you said an exclusive Kroger experience, people would die laughing.

  21. Santos Guest

I'll give them credit, they leaned hard on the local angle and got it mostly right with minimal cringe. Although I suspect if any of the customers who are going to use this lounge actually knew what Mars Bar was like back in the day, they wouldn't be very excited.

    1. Mike O. Guest

      "I'll give them credit"

      Nice pun.

  22. JB Guest

That lounge looks amazing! I look forward to checking it out on my next flight through JFK in a couple weeks!

Presumably the apron views won't be as nice as the Centurion Lounge since the Capital One Lounge will be on the lower level. But I look forward to the food options.
