Southwest Airlines has just brought back an offer that we’ve seen a few times before, and it has the potential to be incredibly lucrative. With this, you can earn a promotional Companion Pass after booking a roundtrip ticket (or two one-ways).
In this post:
Book a ticket, get a promotional Companion Pass
With a new promotion from Southwest Airlines, you can earn a promotional Companion Pass by booking a single roundtrip ticket (or two one-ways). Here are the details of how this works:
- You must register for the promotion, and then purchase one roundtrip or two one-way tickets by March 27, 2024 (yes, the ticket has to be booked after registering, so it’s a short booking window; however, you can always cancel an existing ticket and rebook with vouchers)
- Only a revenue ticket qualifies for this offer, and not an award ticket booked with Rapid Rewards points
- You must complete travel for that ticket by May 22, 2024
- Then you can earn a promotional Companion Pass that’s valid for travel between August 5 and October 2, 2024; you’ll be able to change your companion up to three times during the promotion period
What is Southwest Companion Pass?
For those of you not familiar with Companion Pass, it’s one of the best deals in travel. Those with Companion Pass can have a companion fly with them for just the cost of taxes, regardless of whether paying cash or redeeming points. Essentially think of it as a two-for-one travel pass, which is otherwise pretty unheard of.
Ordinarily Southwest Companion Pass requires 100 flights or 135,000 qualifying points in a calendar year, so this promotion offers quite the shortcut (though also with a limited travel window).
Bottom line
Southwest Airlines has brought back its generous promotion that can earn you Companion Pass. Those who register and then book a roundtrip ticket by March 27 for travel by May 22 can earn a promotional Companion Pass valid for nearly two months later this year.
Obviously this promotion isn’t for everyone, but if you’re planning on doing a bit of travel in the late summer and early fall, this could save you hundreds of dollars.
Do you plan on taking advantage of this Southwest Companion Pass promo?
