Chase and IHG have just rolled out best-ever, limited-time offers on their two co-branded credit cards. These offers are actually better than anything we’ve seen on these cards before, so this is absolutely a reason to pick up one of these cards if you don’t have them already.

Let’s take a look at the details of these excellent offers (we don’t know when they’ll expire):

IHG Premier Card — Earn 140,000 Points

The IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card is offering a limited-time welcome bonus of 140,000 IHG Rewards Club points after spending $3,000 within three months. The card has an $89 annual fee, though it’s waived for the first year.

The annual fee being waived for the first year is an awesome change — we saw a 140,000-point offer several months ago, which was otherwise the best-ever offer, but the annual fee wasn’t waived.

Not only does the IHG Premier Card have a huge welcome bonus, but this is a card that you want to keep long-term for the perks, as it offers:

  • An anniversary free night certificate, valid at a property costing up to 40,000 points
  • IHG Rewards Club Platinum status for as long as you have the card
  • A fourth night free on IHG Rewards Club award redemptions
  • A Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check credit once every four years
  • Access to Chase Offers, which can save you money on purchases with some retailers
  • 10x points for spending at IHG hotels, 2x points on gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, and 1x points for all other purchases
  • No foreign transaction fees

IHG Traveler Card — Earn 100,000 Points

The IHG® Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card is offering a limited-time welcome bonus of 100,000 IHG Rewards Club points after spending $2,000 within three months. That’s an exceptional bonus for a no annual fee card, and on top of that the card offers plenty of other useful perks for a no annual fee product.

The IHG Traveler Card offers:

  • A fourth night free on IHG Rewards Club award redemptions
  • IHG Rewards Club Gold status when you spend $10,000 on the card in a calendar year
  • 5x points for spending at IHG hotels, 2x points on gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, and 1x points for all other purchases
  • No foreign transaction fees

Getting a no annual fee card with such a big welcome bonus, a fourth night free, and no foreign transaction fees, is pretty awesome.

You can get both IHG credit cards

You’re potentially eligible for the bonuses on both IHG credit cards. In both cases, you’re eligible for the card as long as you don’t currently have that particular card and haven’t received a new cardmember bonus on that card in the past 24 months.

In other words, if you have the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card you’re eligible for the IHG® Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card, and vice versa.

On top of that, consider Chase’s general restrictions on being approved for cards, including the Chase 5/24 rule.

Which IHG credit card is better?

Understandably many people may be tempted by the IHG® Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card, since it has a generous sign-up bonus and no annual fee. However, personally, I think the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card is the obvious choice between the two:

To me the anniversary free night certificate more than justifies the annual fee

Bottom line

The two personal co-branded IHG and Chase credit cards are offering limited-time welcome bonuses, which are in line with the best offers we’ve seen on these cards.

The IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card is offering 140,000 bonus points with the annual fee waived the first year, while the no annual fee IHG® Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card is offering 100,000 bonus points.

These are great offers that you’re potentially both eligible for. If I had to choose between the two cards, I’d select the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card.

Do you plan on picking up an IHG Card with the current increased bonus?

  1. I just got the Premier right before the previous 140k signup expired. Can you fathom a negative reason to request a credit for the annual as the current one waives it?

  2. @ben – looks like Chase is upping its game here. Got an email offer for the Bonvoy Boundless – “New cardmember bonus: To qualify and receive 5 Free Night Award e-certificates you must make purchases totaling $5,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Each Free Night Award e-certificate is valid for a one-night hotel stay at a property with a redemption level up to 50,000 points. “

  3. One more time, let us not call this bonus the best ever. It absolutely is not. 140k is great, but the best ever was last year’s IHG 125k + 25x sign up bonus. I, and a lot of other travelers, earned well over half a million IHG points with that sign up bonus.
