For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.

To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points.

At the moment there’s a new targeted Amex Offer for $60 off a $300+ Grand Hyatt stay in the US, Mexico, or Bahamas. The offer is valid through September 30, 2019.

The promotion does require you to spend the entire $300 on one stay, so you can’t rack up that amount over multiple stays. You also need to book directly with Hyatt to qualify for this promotion.

This promotion is specific to Grand Hyatt, so excludes all other brands. However, note that separately there’s an Amex Offers deal for $75 off a $250+ Hyatt Place or Hyatt House stay through October 3, 2019. That’s a 30% return rather than a 20% return, so is even more lucrative.

Bottom line

Getting a statement credit equivalent to 20% back on a stay at Grand Hyatts is potentially a great deal. If you have any Grand Hyatt stays coming up over the next several months, be sure you register for this promotion so you can save cash.

While I generally don’t recommend using an Amex card for Hyatt hotel stays, I’d certainly make an exception here.

Do you see this offer on one of your Amex accounts, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?

  1. Dear Hyatt: Love your product, hate your promos. Nothing is compelling me (yet) to move my Q3 stays.

  2. Does the stay need to happen prior to the end of the promotion, or only the charge to the card? Could I use the card for a pre paid room and stay after the end of the promotion?

  3. Any thoughts on buying a gift card directly from a GH, HH, or HP to trigger this promotional credit?

  4. You suck, Amex. I have two stays scheduled for Grand Hyatt in the next two months. None of my Amex cards are offering this. Not even the craptacular Platinum card, which offers 1 MR point per dollar on hotel stays paid at the property.

So I’ll be putting it on my Hyatt Visa, which earns me more points and nights towards status. Fumbled that one badly, Amex.
