Save On Southwest Airlines Flights With Amex Offers (Targeted)

The Amex Offers program has just rolled out a great new targeted offer for the purchase of Southwest Airlines flights, which could be worth considering for anyone planning travel. While we see Amex Offers deals all the time for travel on select airlines, this is the first time I recall seeing an offer for Southwest, so that’s pretty cool.

Spend $300+ with Southwest, get $60 back

With a new targeted Amex Offers deal, you can earn a $60 statement credit when you spend $300 or more with Southwest Airlines by December 31, 2026. (Enrollment required)

It’s possible that there’s also a version of the offer for 6,000 bonus Membership Rewards points rather than a $60 statement credit, and if so, I’d consider that to be more valuable. That’s because based on my latest miles & points valuations, Amex points are worth 1.7 cents each, so I’d value the 6,000 points at $102.

There are some terms to be aware of:

  • You need to spend a minimum of $300, but it can be across one or multiple transactions
  • Purchases on Southwest’s website or app qualify, as do onboard purchases
  • Flights must originate in the United States and be charged in USD
  • While you need to book travel by December 31, 2026, it’s okay if you travel on subsequent dates
  • The offer includes eligible ancillary purchases, like seat upgrades, baggage fees, and onboard purchases
  • The offer excludes standalone hotel bookings, car rentals, cruise bookings, gift card purchases, Southwest merchandise purchases, travel insurance and trip protection, and Rapid Rewards points purchases

Use this offer to generate Southwest flight credits

Keep in mind that Southwest doesn’t charge fees to change most kinds of tickets, with the exception of the most basic fares. So you could always use this offer to book a $300+ ticket, and if your plans change, that balance would stay in your Southwest account. Just keep in mind the expiration policy, and the fares that are eligible for free changes.

Also be sure you maximize rewards by ideally finding this deal on an Amex card that offers bonus points on airfare purchases, since that will allow you to earn the statement credit and as many points as possible.

Bottom line

There’s a new targeted Amex Offers deal for a $60 statement credit when you spend $300+ with Southwest Airlines. If you’re planning travel on Southwest, this has the potential to be a solid deal. Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum, so that you can really maximize your points.

Were you targeted for this Amex Offers deal, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?

I plan to use it; have it on two cards. Don't care for the related Delta miles I earn, but money is money.....
