I’ve written before about the Bilt Mastercard® (review), which is a useful no annual fee card that allows you to pay your rent by credit card without a fee. The card has lots of other perks, from valuable bonus categories, to cell phone protection, to rental car coverage. If you pay rent in the United States, then getting this card is a no-brainer, and even if you don’t, the card could still be worthwhile.
Bilt goes beyond just a co-branded credit card, though, as you can also earn rewards with the program even without getting a credit card. At the moment there’s a great opportunity to earn bonus points with Bilt.
In this post:
Earn bonus points for linking Bilt partners
Bilt has 15 transfer partners, all of which allow 1:1 transfers:
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- Air Canada Aeroplan
- Air France-KLM Flying Blue
- American AAdvantage
- British Airways Executive Club
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
- Emirates Skywards
- Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles
- Iberia Plus
- IHG One Rewards
- Marriott Bonvoy (If you transfer 20k points, you’ll receive 25k Marriott Bonvoy points)
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- United MileagePlus
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
- World of Hyatt
As a standard offer, Bilt offers 100 bonus points for each partner program that you link to your Bilt account. Given that there are 15 transfer partners, that’s an easy 1,500 bonus points right there.
The process of doing this is easy. Just log into your Bilt account, and then along the top click on the “Flights” or “Hotels” tab. You’ll want to select each individual partner, and then click the “Link” button.
You just have to enter your basic account details, and then the bonus points should post instantly.
Of course I should note that by doing this you’re sharing your account details with a third party, which some people aren’t comfortable with. At the same time, we do that constantly in life, and at least we’re being rewarded here. Everyone will have to decide for themselves if this is something that they consider to be worthwhile.
Limited time: 500 bonus points for linking World of Hyatt
Through Friday, May 27, 2022, Bilt members can earn 500 bonus points for linking their account to World of Hyatt. There’s no registration required for this promotion, but rather the bonus will post automatically if you’ve never linked your accounts before — it’s that easy.
Even if you’re not comfortable sharing your information with a third party for 100 points, maybe 500 points is a more worthwhile “carrot.”
We saw a similar elevated offer for linking your American AAdvantage account back in April. Maybe this will be an ongoing thing, so it could make sense to only link a partner if there’s an elevated bonus (unless you’re making an imminent transfer, of course).
Bottom line
Bilt offers bonus rewards just for linking your account to those of transfer partners. While you can ordinarily earn 100 bonus points for each partner you link, at the moment you can also earn 500 bonus points for linking World of Hyatt.
Regardless of whether or not you have the Bilt Mastercard, this is an offer that could be worth taking advantage of.
One important thing to note. Bilt requires a minimum of 2,000 points for transfers if you are a Blue member. So you'd have to figure out other means of acquiring the remaining 900 if you don't have the Bilt mastercard.
What I don't understand is why Bilt needs our login details to add a partner reward account for transfer purposes. Amex doesn't, Citi doesn't, Brex doesn't, Chase doesn't.. all they need is your program membership number (twice for verification) and name on account. Boom linked.
Probably because they want all your account data and can't get that through the traditional partner APIs. Hard pass.
I have been trying to link my Hawaiian account now for a few weeks. Still cannot verify my details. Do you think that Hawaiian needs activity first before they'll verify with Bilt? I may just uninstall and reinstall the Bilt app again too.
@lucky
Do you have the BILT credit card?
Literally it's the last line in the article. Helps to read and not skim.
"Regardless of whether or not you have the Bilt Mastercard, this is an offer that could be worth taking advantage of."
I've looked in my own Bilt account and it currently only shows 100 points for linking to Hyatt, do I need to be a Bilt cardholder for the elevated bonus? Or is the bonus targeted? Any insight much appreciated!
Just signed up for an account and linked 8 partners only to find out you need minimum of 2,000 points to transfer. Guess i wasted 10 minutes for nothing if I don't get this credit card.
Probably worth disclosing this in the article Ben.
