The Citi ThankYou program in the United States has just introduced a new transfer bonus to Cathay Pacific. While it’s not a particularly large percentage bonus, it is a rare offer, as I don’t remember the last time we saw an offer like this between the programs on Citi’s end. This offer is better than nothing, and Cathay Pacific’s program is best if you want to redeem directly for flights on the airline.
Citi ThankYou to Cathay Pacific transfer bonus promotion
Between October 25 and November 14, 2026, the Citi ThankYou program in the United States is offering a 10% bonus on points transfers to Cathay Pacific.

Ordinarily points transfer at a 1:1 ratio (in 1,000 point increments, assuming you have a premium Citi ThankYou card), while through this promotion you’d get 1,100 Cathay Pacific miles for every 1,000 Citi ThankYou points transferred.
There are several great cards earning Citi ThankYou points, including the Citi Strata Premier® Card (learn more) and Citi Strata Elite℠ Card (learn more), and it’s easy to combine points between the cards.
I should mention that in the past we’ve sometimes seen Cathay Pacific offer a bonus on points transfers from partners, but that was always on Cathay Pacific’s end, and not on Citi’s end. When we saw one of those offers, the transfer bonus wasn’t instant, so that wasn’t nearly as useful as this, in my opinion.
Cathay Pacific’s program partners with Amex Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One, and Citi ThankYou. All points transfers are 1:1, except Amex, which only has a 5:4 transfer ratio. For what it’s worth, Cathay Pacific miles expire after 18 months of inactivity. Any mileage earning or redemption opportunity would reset that timeline.

Is this Cathay Pacific transfer bonus worth it?
The Cathay Pacific Asia Miles program is one that has become increasingly useful over time, even though it’s one I historically haven’t really liked.
The single biggest thing to be aware of is that while Cathay Pacific belongs to the oneworld alliance, Cathay Pacific restricts a vast majority of its first and business class award space to members of the Asia Miles program, so that award space isn’t bookable through programs like Alaska Atmos Rewards and American AAdvantage. That didn’t used to be the case, and it’s the single biggest way that the value of this currency has improved.
There are also some situations where partner redemptions represent a good deal, though I’d say they’re the exception rather than the norm. For example, one valuable partner sweet spot of the program is that when booking through Asia Miles, British Airways flights have lower carrier imposed surcharges than through other programs.
Still, I’d say the primary value here is if you actually want to redeem for travel on Cathay Pacific in a premium cabin, since this is the most practical way to book that.

Bottom line
Through November 14, 2026, Citi ThankYou is offering a 10% bonus on points transfers to Cathay Pacific. While a 10% bonus isn’t huge, it’s better than nothing, and transfer bonuses to Cathay Pacific are incredibly rare. I definitely wouldn’t make a speculative transfer to take advantage of this, but if you’re going to move points anyway, you might as well get a bonus!
To be honest, I’m sort of tempted by this offer. I’d like to fly Cathay Pacific’s current first class one more time before it’s retired, particularly to check out Cathay Pacific’s new first class lounge, which still isn’t open to non-Cathay Pacific oneworld Emeralds.
