While hardly the most exciting promotion ever, here’s an easy opportunity to pick up some free miles, which extends the expiration of any balance you may have, if nothing else.
In this post:
American offering easy, free AAdvantage miles
American has a promotion that offers 100 bonus miles for registering, plus the ability to earn up to 3,000 additional bonus miles with hotel and rental car partners. Now, I should mention that it’s possible that this offer is targeted, though at a minimum, I suspect it’s widely targeted.
To find this offer, log into your AAdvantage account through aa.com or the American Airlines app, go to your main account page, and click on the “Promotions” tab. If eligible, you’ll see this listed there.

The intent with this promotion is that you earn 100 bonus miles for registering by December 31, 2025. Then you can earn up to 3,000 additional bonus miles by February 28, 2026, as follows:
- Book and stay at an AAdvantage Hotels property to earn 750 bonus miles
- Rent a car through AAdvantage Cars to earn 750 bonus miles
- If you both book a hotel and rent a car, you’ll earn an additional 1,500 bonus miles
Note that hotel and car rental check-in dates must be on or before February 28, 2026, for activity to count toward this promotion.

There’s no reason not to take advantage of this!
Personally I value AAdvantage miles at 1.5 cents each, meaning that I value 100 bonus miles at $1.50. Okay, that’s not exactly all that much to get excited about, but then again, we’re just talking about clicking a button to register.
For those who aren’t super engaged in AAdvantage, another benefit of registering is that it extends the expiration of your miles, as AAdvantage miles ordinarily expire after 24 months inactivity.
Even beyond that, I know that many people do like booking through AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars, so you might as well pick up some bonus miles for those transactions, if eligible.

Bottom line
American AAdvantage has rolled out a promotion offering 100 bonus miles just for registering, plus the ability to earn up to 3,000 extra bonus miles with AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars. If you’re eligible for this offer, there’s no reason not to take advantage of it.
Are you taking advantage of this AAdvantage promotion, if eligible?
Would have loved this to extend expiry (it's not a main programme for me) but sadly no offer in my promotions section!
Darn. Not in any of the 5 accounts I manage. Will need to donate 1000 miles to charity to keep 2 of the accounts active.
I got it. Thank you very much!!!
only 1 out of 4 accounts
My offer was slightly different. Same 100 miles for signing up, but then up to 2000 miles for e-shopping, dining, or event ticket purchases. No bonus offered to me for hotel or rental car booking.

Same here.
Not avail in the nearly expiring account with a modest balance I tried
Easy way to save it. Just register your AAdvantage number will Shell rewards, then go buy some gas at the nearest shell station.
Miles usually appear within 2 business days. Easy reset.
I have a different offer but also got 100 miles for signing up:
Shop the AAdvantage eShopping® mall, dine with participating AAdvantage Dining℠ restaurants, or buy tickets through the AAdvantage Events™ platform by Feb. 28, 2026, to earn 500 bonus miles per activity, with a maximum of 1,000 total bonus miles.

It would appear that the readers are waking up to the reality of the OMAAT marketing machine, yes?
I did not get the offer. I'm an only-once-in-a-while AA flier with low mileage balance and no status.
Thanks! Easy 3,100 bonus miles for me. 100 bonus miles posted immediately. Already have a couple AAHotels bookings. Switched a car rental over to AAcars (and also earning another 1920 miles through AAcars plus I'll earn 5620 miles through AA Executive). Don't love renting through Avis even with status with them, but whatever.
The most frustrating thing about doing all of this is being reminded that the AA Exec $120 Avis credit is only...

The most frustrating thing about doing all of this is being reminded that the AA Exec $120 Avis credit is only for booking direct with Avis, and does not sync with the 10x miles you get for booking with Avis through AAcars. Makes very little sense.
As a data point, I didn't get this promotion (which doesn't really matter because I currently have 0 AA miles and any OneWorld travel I would credit to Alaska so I could use the miles on Porter).
Sell your personal info for $1.2 dollars?
@ Davisson -- If you're already an AAdvantage member, you're not "selling" any info here, unless I'm missing something? You're just hitting a button to register.
Ben, thanks for the heads-up! Just registered on the app with the same offer!
Isn’t this worth like $1.20? Doesn’t seem worth the effort.
@ Ed Itor -- I hear you, though I think the bigger benefit is to extend the expiration of miles, as that's useful to some less engaged members.
