I don't mind rear-facing seats, especially if Q-suite, so 1A, 1K is ideal. Even if traveling as a couple, the combination of 1A, 2B or 1K, 2J is a nice set-up, specifically if your P2 prefers forward-facing. Some couples may want the intimacy of the E/F combo (with the wall down); but all those are rear-facing.
As I've said before, you can book Q-Suite, but beware of last-minute aircraft swaps, which QR (and any airline can do). I've paid for Q-Suite but gotten 2-2-2 older 777 on long-haul J with QR, which is not great; likewise, I've also booked Q-Suite but gotten 1-2-1 non-Q-Suite on a350/787, which is better than the 2-2-2 (and all better than non-J, so it's all relative.) Either way, safe travels and enjoy!

How can you ( an individual ) , travel "as a couple" ? I suppose you also travel "as a trio" ?
One of the big things recently is they unbundled business class fare and started charging for seats, unless you’re elite with one world, so I bet that’s why you didn’t see a charge. What’re your thoughts on the value of paying for the various seats?
My wife and I tried the Qsuites honeymoon seats last year and were in love. The crew wasn’t great, which was a bummer, but the next day we had a 788… so much older seats, but a great crew.
Alert, was that merely a snarky grammatical critique, or do you not understand that I (like many of us) can and do travel with other people (in groups of 2, 3, etc.), sometimes?
I am not getting the fuss and excitement about QSuites. Just flew them again a few days ago on a roughly 9 hour flight. Every single bone in my body hurt due to the absolutely non ergonomic and cramped layout and design of the QSuite seats. Connection was on an A350 with the "old" Super Diamond Seats and it was so so much better with sufficient legroom, significantly more comfort and overall space. The oh so hyped Qsuites do have in upright mode less legroom and space to stretch legs than Economy where you can at least place your feet under the seat in front.
Qsuites by design give you the tight bulkhead full stop. No, thank you very much!
I am actively avoiding Qsuite planes. I convinced myself now 2-3 times to give it another try, but the result is always the same: incredibly uncomfortable and a pain to endure.
Might be something for people with public anxiety or so, but by no means a place to sit and work for more than a few minutes or watch a movie.
Comparing the A350-900 QSuite cabin with the A350-900 Super Diamon one, the former feels like a dungeon while the later is nice and airy and bright and overall far more pleasant and comfortable
Meanwhile, I am at the point where I (QR Platinum since day one) ditched my regular routes that now have Qsuites and switched to other carriers with more comfortable seating.
That is a pity since apart from the suboptimal Qsuites, the soft product is still absolutely excellent.
Qatar (as British Airways) asks quite a lot of money to reserve your seat in advance. I have decided to wait until check in. Question for insiders: what are the chance for a couple to get a seat next each other if we wait until check in to get our seats in a A350-1000?

I personally prefer any double side-by-side seat that allows me to spread out when the flight is not full.

Woah, that’s an unpopular opinion. I suppose the main benefit of Q-suite hard product is privacy, over, say, most other J products. If you fly QR enough to have earned Platinum, then you’ve clearly got your preferences made out. Maybe you’re a larger build, so other more spacious product fit better.
