Did they ask you for a boardingpass in the restaurant?
Would be interesting if they don't in the domestic terminal restaurants, as everyone can access it without any boardingpass.
@ Bruno -- Nope, they didn't ask for a boarding pass. Indeed, I guess just about anyone could go there, if they wanted to.
Clearly the register attendant didn't care at all about who you were buying things for, only that you were well under the limit. That'd be an awesome thing to do, walk around and take orders or even just buy a bunch of water bottles and hand them out.
Changi Airport in Sinapapore has also had a similar setup with Priority pass. One of the lounges I visited was just a regular restaurant and I was really confused at first. But they pretty much let you order what you want from the menu but I don't think alcohol was included. I could be wrong.
Thanks for this post as I was wondering how well it was working. Looking forward to trying it out next month, especially as the only good thing about the Qantas Lounge is the flat white.

@AJ: When they announced the fee hike earlier this year. I believe it was announced at the beginning of March.
Was just in SYD last week flying with 2 other people. Stopped at Bistro Bar 2020 and the man running the bar was very familiar with Priority Pass. When he found out I was with 2 other people, he pushed to max out my limit. Ended up with 2 meals with apps and a bag of drinks/snacks to take with us. He did mention that we could only visit one of the restaurants in the terminal in the same day, and I didn't try it to see if that was enforced or not...
Came through Sydney T2 this morning and saw Bar 2020 have the PP sign out now. Not a member myself so couldn't check it out. Hope you enjoyed your short stay down here!

So can you get the Priority Pass at more than one food location at the airport and potential get 216AUD worth of free food/drinks (108 AUD x 2)?
I have PP cards through my Chase and AmEx Plat, I'm assuming you could max out one and then move over to the other since they are swiping the PP cards only.
I was just in SYD and stopped by the Peroni Bar as it was closest to my gate. The bartender was very adamant that my guest and I spend our entire $72 allowance, so after lunch and 2 beers we decided to take some sparkling water and snacks to-go. I have a feeling they are reimbursed for whatever is purchased at a discounted rate, but still make a profit. Since I have my priority pass membership through my CSR, I am entitled to unlimited guests and I was tempted to claim everyone at the bar as a guest just to see if I could buy everyone a free round. However, it is things like that which ruin these benefits for everyone.
They are probably reimbursed at the retail rate so the restaurant makes a profit. And are probably in a trial "use it or lose it" so the employees are encouraging maxing out the limit.
Thanks for the part about this new great benefit. I can see it will be helpful when all I really want is some free food. Of course, I think we have to pay the tip as PP won't cover that most likely.
