Never hurts to try, but, also, gotta set low expectations if you’re going ‘off the book.’ Can’t then get upset when the ‘fine print’ doesn’t align with your hopes and wishes. Better to play by the rules, even when many of these major companies fail to live up to their side of the bargain all the time. *sigh*
As a GHA Discover titanium, I can gift that status to one person (I believe as I haven't done it).
If it's close family or whatever and its a US non-luxury property, literally just log in to the app on their phone. They can check in, out, use mobile keys, etc. The hotel will never know because there's less and less need to interact with the front desk at all.
HH Question: We often travel in a party of three adults, each staying in a separate room. That often means that I get breakfast included and have to pay for two further breakfasts for the other two. Is it possible for me to include Guest B onto the reservation for my room (to avail of the free breakfast) and also for them to have a room in their own name? Thereby I am only paying for one extra breakfast? Appreciate any insights into this - especially hotels outside the US.
Can this also work for paid bookings at other hotels? Whereby I pay for breakfast for two rooms (the rate often includes breakfast for 2 people) instead of having to pay for 3?
Another situation is two rooms and in one room person A and B both elite members and in the other C and D non elite. Then the rooms could have. A and B checked in so all get the benefits. Most hotels won’t have a problem with this.
