Airport lounges used to be a quiet escape from the terminal. Now they're often the most crowded spot, so here's how I decide when a visit is worth it.

An example: Showed up at CHS an hour before departure; boarding 30+ minutes before departure; The Club, a Priority Pass affiliate, digital waitlist, got a text within about 10 minutes; that was a 50/50 decision; still went, got a drink, took in the views for a few minutes, went back to the gate. Meh.
