In 2018, South American mega-airline LATAM announced it would spend $400 million updating the interiors of its fleet. To me the most exciting aspect of this was the introduction of a new business class product, given that the carrier’s offering has historically been pretty lackluster.

My wife and I flew LATAM's old business class product on a 787-8 from SCL to JFK (10 hours, 40 minutes) in March. We had a pair of seats in the center. It was definitely dated but the seats provided more storage space than I've ever had on an aircraft. It was very comfortable in bed mode; I slept great.

As long as you can get one of those old seats in the center section, you can have a good experience.

New business class is trash. Footwells and the seats are so narrow legroom is minimal too. Old business class is so much better

I just got back from Lima and flew LATAM. Probably the worst airline I've flown. We are calling it the new Cubana. They'll need a lot more than just a new business class cabin to be competitive. Never again.

I love the new 777-300 out of Brazil. Quite comfortable. Not so much the 787-800, I am 6”4 and feel the seat is a couple of inches short.

While improved seating is helpful, adding wifi would be more so. LATAM flies many long routes and the lack of wifi is a real problem.

I'm interested now. My flight out of LAX this week is the old cabin down to SCL. I was kind bummed 27th its the new cabin and the 28-30th old cabin. Well I am in the old one but i got the ticket for 45K miles last year so excited to fly down in style for my snowboarding trip.

I actually find those new seats to be incredibly cramped. The pitch is really small and the coffin style makes it uncomfortable to sleep. I know the old config is 2-2-2 but I find those seat vastly more comfortable.

Interesting development on this front: https://paxex.aero/latam-business-class-recaro-r7

Based on the article, at least 1 787-8 will have new seats by 12/1/24 and an unknown timeline to complete all 8. None of the 13 787-9s won't have the new seats until 11/1/25.

Un verdadero deterioro esta nueva clase ejecutiva. Es un sarcófago. El espacio para los pies es muy pequeño. La sensación de encierro impide dormir. La pantalla está tan cerca que no se disfruta. Una tremenda pena

The New seat are very unconfortable!!
When Your seat is 180 o your body rest bellow the seat your are in front of you like a conffin. You could not flex your legs.
TERRIBLE!!!!

I agree the new business they rolled from NY to SCL is awfull - tight uncomfortable, you cannot move, standing up is a nightmare. Honestly is one of the worst implementations I have seen from Latam in years.
Fan of the Airline - detractor of the new 787 layout.

Looks like they're making solid progress on this: https://www.airwaysmag.com/new-post/latam-retrofit-its-first-boeing-787-9

-8s: 8 complete. According to Planespotters.net, there are two other -8s in the fleet, which still have the old config.

-9s: as stated in the article, the first one recently completed mods...looks like mid-October per FR24.
