Great post. Glad one of your UIA flights was nice, too bad it wasn't the longer of the two. Looking forward to reading about the sh--show that was the rest of your time with UIA.
I mean the flight time's not that outrageous if you enjoy minimizing your chance of being shot down out of the sky.
Sorry, I usually enjoy your reports but here you missed out on an opportunity to shame these cheaters who sell an economy class seat as a business class product. Until the end of the 90s that was LH's practice, but the cost was basically the same as full fare economy, and if you ordered full fare economy say from TLV to FRA you got 'upgraded' automatically to the front cabin. Then for more than 10 years they offered a real business class to TLV, which was more expensive than full fare economy, as did just about everyone else in Europe. The last couple of years they went back to the ripoff fake business section along with all of the airlines they control, and AF did as well on their fights to TLV. The TLV flight is often one leg of a longer itinerary, so sitting in a cramped economy seat for 4-5 hours before or after a longer flight when you or your employer paid a real business class fare is very unpleasant.
Hi Ben, I saw you mentioned many times that "you don’t see at many other European carriers." and something like this, I suggest you to change your description to "you don’t see at Non-eastern European carriers." It's true that Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are all European countries, but just imagine, ask anyone to list some European countries, will these countries or even Russia appear in the top 10 on the list? Probably not. In my opinion, the Eastern European countries are clearly in a total different world from the Western/Southern/Northen European countries, so it's simply unfair to compare everything between them, period.
@Lucky Kiev is amazing. I was just there in the beginning of November for a few days for a Chernobyl Tour. The City is beautiful. The Hyatt in Kiev is pretty amazing as well.
