Review: LATAM Business Class 767 (LIM-MIA)
To finish off the first portion of my two trips to the Southern Hemisphere, I flew LATAM business class from Lima to Miami. I was excited to experience LATAM's Boeing 767 business class, given that the airline has been installing a new product over the past few years. Fortunately it didn't disappoint. How I booked…

Although I'm a Copa fan, this review has me motivated to give Latam another try. Thanks for the write-up and the inspiration, Ben.
Is it just me / am I crazy, but why is the "local time at destination" and "estimated time of arrival" wildly off? Why is that?
One of the big problems with LATAM is that they employ the exact same meal service protocols (serving everything in one single tray, all dishes covered, few options for dishes and wines, etc) in longer flights too - including the 12-hour long GRU-FRA/LHR for instance. So it's really lackluster.
To be fair, I've found that meals from their GRU base have much better taste/presentation than the ones loaded in other Latam bases...
And their LATAM Pass program is total garbage - its points manage to be worth less than the famous Skypesos...
And I forgot to add - LATAM has abolished pre-departure beverages across it's entire network. It's not a Peru-specific thing.
Times are neither metric or imperial (LOL!)
Time is expressed using a 24hr clock, or 12 hr clock; e.g. 0005hrs = 12:05 AM.
Metric and imperial standards are used for weights and measurement only.
Ben, just curious, how did you search for LATAM award availability since Alaska does not show it online? Did you use Expert Flyer or Delta, or somewhere else first, or just call Alaska?
Thanks,
John
Not sure about flights from LIM. However for SCL to USA business class flights, search on Delta for 95K Skymiles in Delta One (Latam
Premium Business). If it’s available on Delta at that price, it will be available on Alaska for 45k.
Good dedication to the art Ben. I would have been out like a light from wheels up to wheels down.
Ben, I thought you used to provide a list of links to other posts relating to the same trip (lounges, hotels, etc). Did you change that practice, or did I imagine it? I’d like to see the hotel reviews for this trip but now I have to go digging around for them.
Oh never mind, I now see there’s a “More from this trip” drop-down, it just looks different than before and easy to overlook.
"I’d say this is about as good as it gets on the Boeing 767" - Qatar has QSuites on a 767, and I would argue that is in fact the best use of an old 767 plane.
The last time Qatar flew a 767 was for a few months in 1994, so I doubt this statement is correct.
The bins were not overhauled that is the linefit configuration for newer 767s I believed it’s called 767 new interior.
I was going to post exactly this also.
I flew LATAM J from GRU to LHR and found the catering so disappointing.
It was basically what Ben received on the <6hr flight - but on a flight of over 12hr
I'm interested in the extra legroom seats on this airplane. I'm taking the noon departure from Lima to Miami on what I believe will be the same plane. Looking at the seat map, they only say the first row of economy has extra legroom even though for the next 4 or 5 rows they do charge extra because the seats are in the front part of the plane. It's only $35 extra to get one of the seats in the forward part of the cabin. I think I am going to go ahead and get one of those seats and hope that they really do have more legroom. Although it's odd that LATAM isn't advertising this extra leg room.
