As part of my four flights across the Atlantic journey, I had an extended layover at Rome Airport. I was arriving in ITA Airways’ A350 business class from Miami shortly before 12PM, and was departing in ITA Airways’ A320 business class for Cairo shortly after 10PM.

This is Italy, not the US. Although it was developed by Italian immigrants. Do you eat at the Olive Garden and believe it’s authentic ?

A couple of years ago I stayed at a miniature PP lounge across the hall, I believe. The buffet amounts were miniscule and after each patron the chef fired up the stove and prepared a refill. This was not tired lounge food!
Decades ago I used a lounge in FCO domestic side and I asked if I could get hot cocoa from the machine. The answer was;
1, The machine is not broken and..
2, Yes.
Evidently the Cocoa is stronger than American style and most Americans complain that the machine is broken.
Do you know which lounge is used by United for United Polaris customers flying out of FCO ? I have an upcoming Polaris ticket in July and guess United will use either the ITA or the Priority Class lounge.

In fact if you check the UA website both this lounge and prima vista. Intra Schengen passengers use the Star Alliance Lounge.
Does ITA have a separate lounge in the Schengen / domestic gate area? Flying FCO-CTA next month, wife and I are both SkyTeam Elite+. Pizza and a drink for lunch in the lounge would be lovely.
We were there in June 2022. It was difficult for us to find and the people we asked for directions either didn't know or didn't seem to care. The Lounge itself was ok but nothing special. Food was good but the selection was limited. Seating was ok. While it wasn't crowded when we were there, I would think that if it did get crowded, they would run out of chairs.
That's it! I am flying by ITA business from MIA, next time I am headed to Asia.

Undoubtedly, you may have indeed been in a food coma after a 10 hour lounge stay.
Regardless, your photos made me hungry.
We are going to Italy in June and flying on ITA. I am very disappointed to learn that the showers are not available. After a long flight from the US we anticipated taking a shower upon landing in Rome before our connection to Milan.
Other than that, the lounge seems very adequate to me.
Does anyone know if the shower situation has changed since Ben first posted this?
There are still no showers. Sitting here after a flight from the US and waiting for a flight to the Middle East. Very very very disappointing to not have access to a shower. Also the food is not even as close to as nice as described above. It’s all bread items. Cookies, pastries, croissants, muffins, etc. The only good thing is the coffee.
A quick follow-up to my comment, below:
While the showers are operating, the hot water didn’t last very long (maybe three minutes?) and the towels are paper thin, disposable. Nevertheless, I was grateful for the chance to get clean in between two nine-plus hour flights.
