Hong Kong Airlines Planes Impounded Over Unpaid Parking Fees

I am planning a trip to China next year, Hainan has the best price, but I'm growing more concerned about HNA group going out of business.

Any analysis on that?

Those brave kids are only “dumb” in the eyes of the communists but are heroes in the world arena. They are achieving exactly what they are trying to do six months after what’s happening. Rather than letting the CCP drain the wealth of HK through endless corruptions leaving the kids with no future, they go ahead and destroy everything and drag the communists with them. They are smart to do it that way. Like it or not, the Time, the Washington Post, the US Congress, and many other organizations that value of democracy seem to agree with them. It is not going to end unless communists listen to them.

I'm quite sure China is as capitalist as the Western world, just count the number of billionaires there. You don't really have billionaires in North Korea or Cuba.

@Chris HNA group is fine, HK airline may be not. The reason is the rapid route expansion of HNA in recent years and that also reflects on HX strategy. HNA already took the hit and the hardship will continue for a while but it has a good relationship with local gov so it's easier to reduce finance burden. Meanwhile HX is entirely opposite, AAHK hates HX just like recent protesters coz hx is owned by mainland company.

the Planes are owned by chinese companies, hx can’t default on them because it will drive the earnings down for them. The Chinese companies have been using these tricks for years to steal money from investors. I can’t wait for everyone of these chinese companies to go up in flames. Cathay needs to die too.

@Chris given the number of airlines going bust in the last 18 months, there simply isn't a good reason to risk choosing one that has circling news on it going bankrupt. See it like insurance premium that you just fly another airline that may be more expensive.

Also agree with Lucky, why on earth have they left these at HKG? So many cheap places they could have parked these on the mainland. Bizarre / indicative management practices.

What a shame. Really loved being an ID with that airline. So many going bust. Who is next.

Going back to HX, I'll be happy to see them disappear. And then hopefully, CX will go under not long after that - the airline that won't hesitate to fire their employees based on political opinions expressed completely outside of the workplace.
