Over the years we've seen airlines introduce more seating options for passengers. This is because first and business class keep getting better while economy keeps getting worse, meaning there's more room for a middle-ground product. Escort service. Clearly their marketing department needs some advice.

"Escape" + "Comfort" = ill-advised portmanteau in English

"ESCort" - well, you know what they say... Marketing is too important to be left to the Marketing Department...

So essentially theyre taking passenger behavior (claiming an empty row and lying down) and charging for it.

Wonderful.

This just appears that there are so many empty economy seats that they’ve come up with ways for fewer passengers to occupy them and to make extra income. The B77W always seemed to big the Garuda’s London route and if they ever get the A350/B787 then it’ll remain too much excess.

Also, is this a consequence for GA87 now being London to Denpasar?

I guess it’s not needed on the Amsterdam flights as these are fuller.

ESC I think is supposed to be like the ESC "escape" key. but it does sound like some kind of illicit service. . .

Anyway.
Even if they have some use for the "ESC", how about the "ort"?
The service is named Escort, period.
"Hello sir. Can I introduce you to our brand new inflight Escort service?"

I know this isn’t always the case but, if you’re willing to buy 3 Y seats for yourself, why not just buy a J seat? I feel that on Gauruda that would be the cheaper option. You’d get lounge access, priority boarding, etc. as well.

Never been to Indonesia before, but with everything that's mentioned here, sounds like it'll be a cushy ride and hopefully, Lobster available upon immediate request.

ESCort is supposed to stand for Economy Sleeping COmfoRT

My guess is that they're not going to offer 'true' business class meals because this is a long-haul flight and in business class they offer ala-carte service. That will be very difficult for the cabin crew and not enough space for the economy seat table tray. Rather, both classes would most likely have tray service similar to their regional business class. It seems ESCort class will be for one person in one 3-seat row and Premium class will be for two persons in one 3-seat row, kinda like Euro business class where one seat is blocked. Easy for Garuda because their 777s are still in 3-3-3 layout.

Economy Super (or Stretch) Comfort? Sounds like a novel way to fill up empty seats.

"ESCort seats are suitable for you who want to lay... with the specially arranged seats... offer you some extra benefits"

Sounds shady!

If it is a seat with an escort they can count me in. I prefer male, young, cute and wild.

From the video, I would assume ESC stands for Economy Sky Couch
