Nothing about the rather negative changes coming to Aeroplane? The programme has become completely and utterly unattractive to anyone living outside of Canada and maybe the US.
Yeah got that email yesterday - not an Aeroplan elite member but this is the way the world has been going for some time now, so hard to get too excited about it.
FWIW they either fixed the problem with the last 4 digits (hence the re-post of this post) or it helped for me when I made sure the CSR was saved to my Aeroplan account first.
I think there's 2 ways the program gets used.
Using Aeroplan as the program to which you credit flights, and to try to gain elite status... the recent program changes made that far, far worse for for infrequent-to-moderate travelers (but probably a slight boost for bigger spenders and/or frequent paid travelrs who can get elite status... probably not many people who read this blog)
Using Aeroplan as arguably the best program to transfer points to (to book on the widest variety of partners, 355 days in advance, with reasonable partner redemption rates, no fuel surcharges, generous stopover policies, arguably the best lap infant award ticket policy, and transferable-to from a wide variety of credit card point programs)... that is virtually completely unaffected by the recent changes.
FYI I just tried to use mine and it was a bit confusing. On a desktop browser you have to log in, go to My Aeroplan > Benefits, and click there to activate it.
Then you go to do your award flight search and a floating blue popup appears near the bottom of the screen. You click that and then your search results re-load with the new pricing displayed.
I was not able to use it to book a 2-person itinerary, so I ended up just putting us on separate tickets. YMMV.
Signed up during the promotion and just got an email from them saying:
"Unfortunately, you did not meet the conditions to receive a Flight Reward Certificate."
I wrote back asking what conditions I did not meet. (I don't remember any conditions other then holding a Chase Reserve .)
I also got an email saying "Unfortunately, you did not meet the conditions to receive a Flight Reward Certificate."
Sent an email about what conditions I didnt meet (since AFAIK, I meet all conditions).
Let's say if what they say. Or if they even know. Or if they even reply.
