Uh Oh: BermudAir Sued Over Millions In Unpaid Airport Fees
In August 2023, we saw the launch of BermudAir, a quirky niche airline operating Embraer planes between Bermuda (BDA) and the United States and Canada. The airline has grown quite a bit —it now has a fleet of four jets, andserves roughly a dozen destinations.

They just (yesterday or today) canceled my booking from Hartford and said they’ve discontinued the route, which only started in this past spring. Might want to see if any other routes have been shut down so quickly. Very disappointing, as there are lots of insurance executives who travel between the two… just not in summer.
Airports hate this one quirky trick that keeps your insolvent airline operating…!
The problem with Bermuda is that it is not "beach weather" most of the winter. Probably not the best place to base a leisure airline.
The Caribbean a much better choice.
I flew BermudAir r/t from Boston back in June. The only direct flight options were BermudAir or JetBlue, and the BermudAir flight was significantly cheaper. The flight was maybe half full, but honestly a great experience. They served fresh cookies and unlimited Goslings cocktails.
I can't see Bermuda being a big destination though. It isn't tropical enough in the winter months, and in the summer months when the weather is nice it's a very expensive destination to visit when there are arguably better options. Not sure how this airline will fare given the lack of serious demand and the amenities on board. One final note, the LF Wade Airport was fantastic! Just opened a couple of years ago, it was a great experience and you clear US customs in Bermuda, making the return home instant!
Bermuda gives other airlines millions in incentives and marketing dollars, upwards of 11 million in one case. So you'd have to ask why they don't support their own flag airline.
Great idea but planes empty must have lost over $50milion since launch. Flew from Bermuda to Westchester for $249 but they have to pay airport like $140 for every passenger departing. Someone failed unit economics. lets hope they turn it over to Breeze or somenne before they explode and strand passengers. New management needed.
Once their other destination airports find out they aren’t paying Skyport things might go downhill very quickly for them.
Collapse must be imminent. Hear their are multiple creditors pushing for insolvency in Bermuda courts. Can somene research this w court records in Bermuda?
I struggled with the map very shortly. Who had the brilliant idea to make the continent blue and the water white?
My husband and I flew BermudAir in July to/from Charleston, SC and had a great experience. Sorry to hear they are having trouble.
We flew Bermudair from Halifax last November and it was a wonderful flight. On time, friendly staff, excellent service. 2 hr non-stop vs Air Canada's Halifax to Toronto to Bermuda taking 7 hrs, if I recall correctly. I hope they can work things out
Since this is Bermuda’s first airline serving Bermuda I think BermudaAir should have been given a one year deferment on taxes and fees to get their footing.
