I was a bit torn about how to get from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Initially, I had narrowed it down to Jetstar or taking a bus. Neither option was ideal. While Jetstar was $40, Id have to pay for checked bags and the timing of the flight wasnt very good for me. A bus sounded…

Let me be the first, but certainly not the last to say, "So, where are those pics of the flight attendants?!"

Seats are identical to those US Airways uses on Envoy 757's and 333's. About 160 degrees.

@ Jay, why would he blur their faces? You're on a commercial airliner, not NetJets. There is very little "assumption of privacy" from a Western legal perspective.

Great report looking forward to the rest.
I love the guy in the cabin wearing a track suit and a tie!

@david - The guy in the track suit and tie could be the relif co-pilot -- maybe he left his jacket in the cockpit? 🙂

@JRL - RE @Jay's question about blurring faces. It's not a legality issue. It's simply a matter of respect for others. No, Lucky may not have to blur faces of other pax but I think it's good suggestion - one I hadn't really considered before either. I don't blur faces in cabin photos I take but then I also don't put them on a high profile travel blog either.

Regarding being shown to the J counter in the checkin area, you were profiled. You were a caucasian male showing up for a flight on UL. Unless you were unkept, I expect most fitting your profile to be directed to the J counter. I've had similar treatment in GCC countries, and in other parts of Asia.

Also, were you able to earn miles on any carrier for this journey?

EK gives out those stickers as well, found it useful for meal services and stuff as i tend to sleep on flights.

Just go to Sri Lanka airlines web sites and you can find photos of FAs (if you are curious).

Lucky did they tell you to turn off all electronics on this flight before take off or landing (or any other flight) and do you listen? I always want to take pictures but dont want to get flogged by FAs. just curious.

@ Jay -- Frankly, I don't think I have the photo editing skills to do that. Beyond that, while I'd rather everyone have full privacy, I can't help but think it would take a bit out of the "experience" out of the report. I know when I see pictures with tons of blurred out faces I feel like the pictures contribute less to the report. Ideally everyone's privacy would be respected, but at the same time I kind of like seeing the age, nationality, gender, etc., of other passengers on airplanes, in lounges, and at airports.

@ david -- Hah, that would be the first officer!

@ Nybanker -- Ironically enough, no!

@ jr -- They make that announcement on every flight, though I've never been asked to turn off a camera. Ever. So do I listen? I guess the answer is "no."

SIN is about the only international airport I *don't* hightail it to immigration - in dozens of arrivals there I've never had a wait of more than a minute or two at immigration. It seems one of the best run in the world.

Sounds exactly like my flight on Kingfisher in business class from Bombay to New Delhi...absolutely staggeringly good service ("Can I clean your eyeglasses for you, sir?") and managed to make a less than pristine hard-product incredibly comfortable.

Where did you credit the miles to? I've got a few UL flights coming up and don't want the 10k miles to go to waste 😉

you would have to pay for your seatbelt, oxygen mask, and life vest, even if you dont use the other last two.
