I admit if I had time connecting at ORD, I'd happily buy a couple Chicago dogs and skip the airline domestic F meal. But, this is an easy pass for me. But, agreed, I like the creativity.

Swiss had a Roulade some years ago in first class. a roulade is a way to get low class meat edible. A hot dog is the same. serving third class meat to first class passengers is disgusting. No way out of this
Well, Frau Hund (literally translated: Ms Dog) is quite an iconic fast food outlet in Switzerland. Thus it ticks the box of being swiss and iconic.
But we are talking First Class and there I don't want to eat any fast food.

I can imagine their thinking: "It is summer, F passengers will be mostly lowly upgrades, so why bother..."
Is this meant to be an actual meal? I can see it working well as a midflight snack.
The name is actually non sensical. Bastardo in Spanish is a literal translation of Bastard but has a very negative, almost insulting connotation. Makes no sense to use it as a dish name.
SWISS, now in the race to the bottom of the World Rankings and in concert with the other U.S. junk food caterers too.

I guess if you fly First Class so often that you're jaded with all the filet minion and lobster thermidor and caviar, then sure, I can see someone having a hot dog instead. Or if you're 6 years old. Otherwise, this is ridiculous. First Class is supposed to be special. This isn't.
Flew Swiss First a few months back and was very disappointed by the food served in the air and the level of service. Inflight food Zurich --> LAX was simply average and not well executed. Service was also lacking. FA never checked in with me throughout the whole flight! I asked for ice cream at one point. A small tub of Haagen Daz ice was brought to me. It was liquid. I called the FA back, told her it was melted and asked for another. She brought another, didn't wait to check it or wait for me to check it and simply left, never came back - the new one was also liquid. Qatar Biz class food and service was MUCH better than Swiss First.
Thankfully the food and service at Zurich Swiss First Class lounge in Terminal E was excellent. The sweeping apron views from that lounge are special.
I am intrigued... But buying an F ticket just for this? No thanks! I can easily leave the airport and take the train to get one! Give me F food in F!
A Chicago-style hot dog is perhaps, or at least was back in February when I flew it the pre-arrival landing snack on Japan Airlines (which I was just laughing at) in Economy class flying ORD-HND.
It was edible (and better than a Chicago-style hotdog bar I was served at a special event in a hotel ballroom about a month before it that was just gross).
The SkyClub in ORD has a little hot dog cart with proper Chicago hot dogs. Although really don't recommend Delta at ORD. I tried to fly on one of their non-stop to New York a few weeks ago during the tornadoes and they just dont have the capacity of America or United. Ended up having to buy (a surprisingly cheap $160) last minute ticket on their competitor since they had not great options only with connections.
Perhaps it's something along the lines of a tongue in cheek nod to bastardizing a concept?
Simple meals can be exceptional too, if done right. In fact, the best meals of my life were very simple concepts rather than elaborate creations. I don't see anything wrong here - assuming it's not some fast food hot dog but a gourmet creation, what exactly is wrong about a sausage in bread (and I don't eat sausages :))?
Why not. Swiss has plenty of traditions they keep going in F So it’s nice to shake it up a bit. As long as this is not to the expense of any other food. I like the new service in F, there is a bit more choice.
People who travel frequently in first class enjoy simpler menu items too. If you're commuting between Zurich and Singapore or New York a couple of times a month, I'm sure the caviar gets a bit repetitive. Personally I'd take the designer hot-dog over caviar any day. It'd go quite well with a class of Cuvée Louise...
You are absolutely right. However, putting chutney and sour cream on a sausage instead of ketchup does not really mean "an elevated dish".
I do not eat sausages, but would make an exception to try something really tempting.

I get your options on food like no pork or processed meat. To me it would be hard to justify eating caviar. I've had it a few times and didn't care for it. Even if I cared for it, I would not eat it because the fish they take the caviar from are endangered and are overfished.
Not a bad idea to add some creativity to shake things up a bit. We're talking about F-Cl here, so I'm sure that there are plenty of other options.
One thing I like about LX is that they quite frequently rotate food options and that they are thoughtful about local cuisine and local chefs.
For all that visit or plan to visit Iceland, the hot dog is the national obsession. Kiosks all over the country serve them.
To start with, squishy bun. Hot dog is 1/3 beef, 1/3 pork, and 1/3 lamb. The standard condiments in order of layering: catsup, sweet mustard, chopped raw onions, fried onions, and remoulade sauce.
I'm game and wife was game(partially). After standing in line, in the rain for 15 minutes, we got them and sat on a wooden bench. Absolutely fantastic. We went back there two more times on our trip.
I give the Swiss some credit for becoming more worldly in the past 10-15 years. Swiss people are traveling and learning about other cultures. NYC hotdog?

They didn't quite make it, but they tried.
Flew LX F over the weekend - and saw this on the menu - didn't get to try it, though. Swiss's (and LH's) pre-landing meals are always a bit of a head scratcher in terms of what they offer. I once had BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches (catered out of FRA) as a prelanding meal. Not very F. Was this for the Germans and other Europeans or the Americans on the flight - I don't think either group really liked it? I can say that the LX sausage/hot dog at least feels like a local offering. The best thing catered out of ZRH has to be the cheeses!
First Class doesn't need a kids menu... Maybe the hot dog is great, but if they offer chicken tenders next, I'm out.
