Shame that there are no flights ex-Germany... Even with LH/EW, Condor, TUI and other LCCs, the Germany-Canaries flights tend to have pretty high (and usually full around regional school holidays) loads during winter, despite the pretty high fares
Breaking into traditional LH market would mean loosing some lucrative wetlease contracts with Lufthansa and Swiss for their A220 free capacity. This will not happen.
Very smart move by airBaltic. Base at a well known sunny destination and connect it multiple destinations in Scandinavia, Nordic /Baltics is a great strategy and it will be a certain success.
Reply to “Edbaltic”, not sure what you mean with “LH” territory. Canaries to/from Scandinavia/Baltics has nothing to do with LH and will not have any impact on wet lease deals over summer seasons. (if anyone should be concerned it would be SK/SAS but BT-SK relations are well established and stable)
