I agree timing of the European flights suck, also all flights seem to have really short turnaround times, less than 2hrs on the ground. Haven't calculated if the scheduled flight times have any cushion embedded.
@DT in a way that when you board you're usually not tired enough to rest enough or to get a good night sleep rather than departing in the evening.
@M - I fly over 600,000 miles a year and this is never an issue. Business travelers will get a quick shut eye , shower after landing and be ready for work. Its not like it is a 6 hr flight. Then again, my experience is from a business traveler POV.
Is it really that unpopular to arrive in Europe in the morning? Seemed like pretty good timing to me!
He probably meant 600k km, which is 370k miles, so roughly two international RTs a month. Certainly on the high end, but not impossible. My record was 250k miles a year with 75% being business travel and 25% being personal travel. And that didn't feel taxing at all.
@ James - business does not get done on Skype and no I dont want to move to China/India/HK/Singapore. @ Ken - I did not mean 600K KM!! I take 3 Asia trips a month from the bay area! And no, its not as uncommon as you might think - I my not even be the most frequent traveler in my company and run into may fellow road warriors on CX weekly. At any rate, this is not about me - it is about the "too early" comment. Plus, most business travelers dont travel for the experience but for getting work done and most of us couldn't care less about the wine list, experience and menu (or the bread!). Just a nice bed to sleep, Wi-fi for a short time and perhaps a single glass of wine (and an endless supply of water - my record - 3 1.5 LT bottles over 14 hr flight - super imp to fight jet lag). I have always been amused by some of the writings on this site as it is interesting to note how some may be enjoying all aspects of a travel experience that is nothing but a work commute to others like me.
I prefer the earlier departure times - gives me a full day in Europe the next day
