There’s both some good and bad news when it comes to the two primary Aeromexico Salon Premier lounges at Mexico City International Airport Benito Juarez (MEX), as flagged by Live and Let’s Fly.

The food and drink voucher would make sense, though I am trying to imagine where there is a quiet area of MEX T2...

I'm guessing they're trying to get both updated before next year's World Cup, hence doing both at the same time rather than staggering them.

I hope when the lounges reopen loud fat American fascists and in particular toxic Delta flyers are banned from this lounge.

Thats a common wish across the world. 🙂 Even just banning all Americans will do it.

Sound about right for an airline in Sky Team, the land of the misfit toys.

I flew AM business through MEX two weeks ago, Aeromexico still does have a lounge called "Terraza Premier" that's still open to AM J pax and SkyTeam Elite Plus. It's down on the domestic end of departures and is very tiny. Maybe can accommodate 40-50 people total. If I recall correctly, you can also get in with Priority Pass.

Fun fact: I'm on my to the airport right now. Landing in MEX at around 5 am and have a layover of 7 hours.

@BZ You are like a broken old record player. You already said this when Lucky wrote about Kyoto wanting to levy a huge tax for hotel stays. It is not going to happen no matter how many times you write it.

@Tim wishful thinking but let it solely exist in your and BZ’s minds.

i was just there on Sunday, it was a very aggravating experience to arrive at the lounge only to find it closed unexpectedly with no alternatives -- and while i have access to the Centurion lounge and the Priority Pass lounge, both were predictably on massive (1hr+) wait times.

Not all. We all know which ones. #greenland isn’t for sale.

I live in MEX and NE, and lived in MEX since 2009. There is no quiet place in MEX Term 2 nor Term 1. There is 1 Amex Centurion in T2, it had minor renovations, but is dark and is generally crowded during peak bank hours. There are 3 Amex Centurion Lounges in T1, but you have to take the Aero Tren to get between the Terminals. T1 is in general is narrow, crowded and OLD. And it is a LONG Walk to get to the new Centurion Lounge at the end as in 20 min walk.

The root of the issue is that AMLO canceled the new airport, so MEX was never contemplating being open in 2025......thus it is dire need of updates. Now Mexico has 3 airports, 2 old and need renovation and a shiny new one that is Out of the Way for most Chilangos.

How is this a fun fact?

Of course, Aeromexico doesn't tell you BEFORE booking a flight. How is this allowed by Sky Team? Even if it's allowed, Aeromexico should be downright embarrassed by this. Especially international business-class passengers.

It is embarrassing, but even more embarrassing would be to continue delaying the renovation of the current absolute shit lounges

You can never win.
The lounge is terrible, you must renovate it!

We apologise as the lounge is closed for renovations.

It’s terrible, you closed the lounge

FNT Delta Diamond is angry!

Because he can't imbibe on unlimited airport lounge alcohol at MEX.

Terraza premier is open as stated by another commentator. Simple but good service with coffees, drinks and snacks.

I'm shocked. I paid for a biz ticket thinking I would at least have the lounge to do some work. When I booked the ticket they said we would have access to the lounge, which was closed at the time of booking the ticket. I'm actually furious!

There should be an alternative. I've never flown biz where an airline does not offer an alternative lounge. People have paid for this as part of their ticket.

And do you have to pay for this? Or is this an alternative for biz passengers with the airline?

Yeah, I had a flight through MEX on March 10th, 4 hours layover and with no advance warning that the lounges were closed. Even AM staff seemed to have no clue, and so I was wandering the terminal at 10 at night looking for a lounge. Also, late at night, there is really a limited number of food and drink options.

I did DM the airline, to say they should have notified passengers of this removal of service, they just said "ah well we didn't".

The lounges were open when I booked, it was a described perk of the fare. I was pissed.

Closes earlier though, when I arrived after 9pm, it was already shut.

The Premier Lounge in Terminal 2 was closed much earlier. I flew through there in December 2024 and it was “temporarily” closed. I expected I would be able to use it in January 2025, but no. Then not again in April 2025. That is hardly “temporary”; it is “semi-permanently”.

A full year of closure with no alternative service for Premier class passengers is inexcusable.

As a disabled passenger in a wheelchair, this sucks. Good way to lose a customer, Aeromexico

It’s still closed. Bring noise cancelling earphones for your stopovers.
