Fun story! I loved your commitment to make it happen no matter what.
I also did the TK challenge. But I spent at least 1 night in between separate tickets. The entire trip from start to finish ended up taking me 16 days though. Not courageous enough yet to book a separate ticket connection for the same day (I just don't like the stress).
Great story. I think we’ve all experienced the frustration and anger of trying to find a hotel near an airport on foot (it’s just over there, I reckon) and walking into dodgy construction sites or legging it across dual-carriageways with a wheelie bouncing along behind. Been close to divorce at least twice with the wife sweating & swearing along in my wake.
The few times I had electrical leak at hotel and the hotel pushed back. I just tell them to touch it and prove me wrong.
It wasn't possible to feel the current through one's hands - I think the voltage must have been too low for that.

thanks, great story. obviously, there are several things you should not have done but I would have the done exactly the same mistakes.
Light hotel-based 'electrocution'...a flight on the 'Turkoflot'...and nearly getting stranded "in Cairo of all places"... that's some peak OMAAT community content right there! (Impressed you did both EuroBonus and TK's offer; if only you'd also done jetBlue's 25 for 25 promo, too. Three-fer!)
