During my trip to Zimbabwe, I intentionally planned a two night layover in Amsterdam. No, not to enjoy the beautiful city and to visit some ”cafes,” but rather to check out two hotels that were particularly intriguing to me as an aviation geek:

The plane aside, it looks like a better than average hotel airport at a good value.

How is it in terms of accessibility to Amsterdam? Easy to get there from the hotel? I can't imagine people would want to live there in the apartments, though, tbh.

I'm impressed! Seems like really good elite treatment, Technogym equipment, and the pool looks really nice too. I really want to stay here.

I really wasn’t expecting much from the exterior, but it seems you got an incredible value for the stay. Room looks perfectly nice and functional, decent breakfast and overall great amenities. Thanks for reviewing!

There was a time back in 2018 where they would sell rooms for 40euro a night.

I had a long 30 day stay, and they 'upgraded' me to one of the apartments in the complex.

Given the prices of rental accommodation in Amsterdam, this was an amazing deal - for what was a fully functioning hotel.

Just stayed there 2 days ago. Room 2018. One of 3 rooms with an huge patio overlooking the plane. Got some day and night shots, if you’d like.

“As much as people complain about the tipping culture in the United States, it’s interesting to note that the room had a QR code whereby people were encouraged to tip housekeeping.”

Despite the hotel’s ownership, Marriott is a US business. In any part of the world, where tipping is not customary or expected, if you have a US business it suddenly becomes customary and expected! You can’t escape it!

So what, there is a plane parked outside the hotel. Not like the hotel is decked out or has something inside the plane. Agree the Sheraton is much more convenient.

If I am staying off airport, the Novotel Hoofddorp is my choice. I’ll take NS or an express bus over an airport shuttle any day.
