For Canadian readers: you can only get one 15-night credit even if you have both the personal and business cards.

As an Irish resident where Amex is not supported its immensely frustrating Marriott does nothing to support other methods to award customers. Ive archived Ambassador for 5 years through stays and pointed it out to Marriott directly that they are discriminating against customers where Amex & Chase cards are not supported. This affects many countries who cannot access cards to boost reward nights. Ive reached out on multiple occasions to Marriott but they dont seem to care

Exactly. That us why I an leaving the major (US) hotel chains. They hand out Gold status to (mostly US) credit card holders like candy - in some cases also higher levels. It completely devalues the status value. Why would you spend 25/50 (or even more nights) with a chain, when another one can just walk in from street, sign up for a credit card, and get handed the status without spending a single night?

Agree about the consistency because of so many platinum members and also agree that it is where the benefits become useful. I think if an American holds the personal and business credit cards it is not difficult to earn the additional ten nights. Using the coupons for the stays that come with the credit cards can equal two nights. Marriott often has double night promotions so it may take just a few nights. I also think for most people they choose a group to be loyal to and have varying reasons for that.
