A terrific reflection on an incredible opportunity. I too never thought in a million years that I'd be doing the same thing, but life has its way of surprising us! I very much enjoy the analytical approach you take to the hobby and your writing and think that you (and Nick and Tiffany...I guess) have added a TON to the site.

I had to laugh over the fuel gauge arrow, as I only very recently learned about this - and I'm 66 years old! A friend pointed-out this feature to me - on MY car - and I was like OH. MY. GOD!
Keep up the good work, Travis. And please do write about turning right at the aircraft door and staying at hotels without helicopter pads. Most of us take all sorts of trips. Sometimes my husband and I splurge and luxuriate at a five-star hotel. Then on the next trip we may economize and stay at a Holiday Inn. We cross the Atlantic on lie-flat beds, but domestically opt for the back of the (air)bus. To our way of thinking, Champagne tastes better when you don't drink it every day.

Talking of pointing out mistakes, where you write "one of the top miles and points blog", I think you mean "blogs" (plural). Or delete the "one of".

As someone who is fairly new to both OMAAT and the miles/points game in general, I've found your posts to be both entertaining and educational. Particularly those directed at us noobs. 😉 And while I do look forward to, admire, and marvel at Ben's travel posts, as a practical flyer who flies with my family (including a little one) I find your entries to be a bit more relatable to my own style / preferences for travel. As parent of two kids, I always appreciate nuances you bring to blog in terms of family travel. Just a word of worning: with school year looming, one gets stuck booking travel at high season only, and left to mercy of travel agencies for March break pricing. Arriving-at-hotel tornados are small headaches compared to marrying school schedules, extracurricular obligations, tween desires (apevem more important - dislikes) and award availability. Enjoy kids while little - it gets more complicated later.
