Over time it's pretty standard for hotel loyalty programs to raise the number of points required for a free night redemption. This is done in one of two ways: -- Adjusting which hotels belong in which categories. Hotel chains typically have somewhere between a handful and a dozen "categories" of properties, which determine the price…

Thats great news! I have been planning a trip to Malldives next year and was torn between Hyatt and Conrad. This helps me lean a bit more toward the Hyatt

What precedent do you think this sets regarding notifying customers/ GP members before changes? It seems like they now change whenever they want.

This is really great. We are going to do a post focusing on how Australians can get to the Maldives easily.

Total shot in the dark and no basis whatsoever, but maybe related to the 20% discount that was around for most of the year through July?

Ben,
I'm in! I'll be using Points Pros AGAIN to set up the trip but I'm interested in the route that you took.
And time of year to go? Any recommendations?

Oh... and is Mero still with you guys?

Thanks!

Ben: for how long are you going to write "simplified" posts that are clearly for beginners to this hobby? even this post, while not a "beginner" post like the rest of your content this week, has clearly been watered down a bit. I know not everybody has been reading your amazing content for 6 years like I have, but I'm looking forward to your content getting back to normal. Of course feel free to ignore everything I wrote since you provide an amazing service and I don't have to pay a penny...

Great news, especially if there's P+C availability. While the jump in points between categories 6 and 7 isn't too bad, for Points + Cash it hurts: +2500 points & +$150...

Typically, hotels chains determine hotel category levels by the ADR (average daily rate). I wonder if the rate fell below the Cat 7 level due to the strength of the U.S. Dollar relative to the Maldives Rufiyaa

Anyone had any luck finding points and cash availability for Hadahaa?

upon calling hyatt, i've been told that hadahaa does not accept points and cash redemptions. You won't have any luck redeeming any points there if you choose C+P. Please update your post accordingly.
